Central Teacher Eligibility Test is scheduled to be conducted on December 9, 2018. Find out which are the other important CTET 2018 exam dates on Shiksha.

CTET 2018 exam dates have been declared by authorities. Central Teacher Eligibility Test is scheduled to be conducted on December 9, 2018. CTET comprises of two papers, that is, Paper-I and Paper-II. Both the papers are scheduled to be conducted on the same exam day and each exam is of two and a half hours duration. CTET Paper-II would be conducted from 9:30 am to 12 pm whereas CTET 2018 Paper-I will be held from 2 pm to 4:30 pm, on the same day.

Earlier, CTET 2018 application form was scheduled to be made available to aspirants from June 22, 2018 onwards but due to some administrative reasons the application process for Central Teacher Eligibility Exam 2018 has been postponed.

CTET Paper-I needs to be given by candidates who want to become teachers for Classes I to V. On the other hand, Paper-II of CTET exam needs to be attempted by aspirants who want to teach Classes VI to VIII. The main question paper of CTET exam is bilingual, that is, questions in the exam are asked in both Hindi and English.

CTET 2018 Exam Pattern: In CTET Paper-I questions are asked from subjects such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (compulsory), Language II (compulsory), Mathematics and Environmental Studies. Total number of questions asked in this exam are 150 and candidates are evaluated out of a total of 150 marks in this paper. On the other hand, in CTET Paper-II questions are asked from topics including Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory), Language I (compulsory), Language II (compulsory) and Mathematics and Science / Social Studies/ Social Science. Total number of questions asked in this exam are 150 and candidates are evaluated out of a total of 150 marks in CTET Paper-II.

Qualifying Marks and Award of CTET Certificate

CTET exam is conducted by CBSE in order to shortlist candidates for the post of teachers for Class I to Class VIII. Any candidate who secures more than 60% in CTET is considered to have qualified the teacher eligibility test.

·         School managements (which include; Government, local bodies, government aided and unaided) may even consider giving concessions to candidates belonging to different reservation categories such as SC, ST, OBC, differently abled persons and the likes, in accordance with their reservation policy.

·         Weightage should be given to CTET scores in the recruitment process. But it is imperative to note that qualifying CTET exam does not confer the right to any person for recruitment/ employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi each year as per guidelines shared by Govt. of India’s Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

The CTET exam generally held twice a year. The February session exam was conducted on February 7 and 8, 2026 at several centres across the country. The another session may be conducted later this year.

According to the NCTE notification, candidates require 60% or more to pass the CTET examination. The minimum marks required by a candidate being a General category to qualify the CTET exam is 90 out of 150 and for SC, ST, OBC and PwD is 82 out of 150.
