I am decently satisfied with the campus life.
Placements: 80% of students in Production and Industrial Engineering are placed during the 2024 placement season. The average package during placements is around 20 to 25 LPA. Students are placed in both core and non-core job roles, such as consultancy, finance, product management, etc.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available on the campus are quite good. We have Wi-Fi all over the buildings. Almost every classroom and lab has A.C. The facilities provided to us in the hostels are also good. The mess food is decent, and we also have pretty good sports equipment.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They teach us pretty well. The course curriculum also seems relevant to the industry. Semester exams are quite hectic, considering we have quizzes/exams every month during the semester. But, these exams are quite manageable.

Inside the IIT Delhi dream.
Placements: Mostly, all the students who sit for placements get a job. The highest salary is around 30 LPA, while the average is 20 LPA. Hindustan Unilever is one of the top recruiters. Getting an internship is hard compared to placements. Many students from my branch go for consultancy.
Infrastructure: Yes, I have opted for a hostel, but due to the lack of hostel rooms, we do face a lot of issues. My hostel room is designed for a single person, but two people are accommodated in it. We have a single cupboard and a single table, which creates a lot of issues.
Faculty: The professors are good in their research, but their teaching is quite inefficient, and the teaching assistants don't know what they are meant to teach. The course is designed every ten years to ensure its relevancy, but it still lacks. The semester exams are quite difficult, and students remain under stress.

Absolutely dissatisfied.
Placements: Placement Percentage: 85% of students were placed. Salary Packages: Highest: 35 LPA Lowest: 6 LPA Average: 12 LPA Top Recruiting Companies: Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Bosch, Maruti Suzuki, and Mahindra. Internship Stats: 70% secured internships in companies like ISRO, BHEL, DRDO, and Tata Motors. Top Roles Offered: Operations Manager, Supply Chain Analyst, Quality Engineer, and Manufacturing Consultant. Negative Aspects of Production and Industrial at IIT Delhi (fictional): Limited focus on modern technologies, outdated curriculum in parts, and fewer research opportunities compared to CS or ECE. Students often find the coursework theoretical with less industry-aligned practical exposure.
Infrastructure: Facilities and Infrastructure for the Course/Department: Wi-Fi: High-speed campus-wide Wi-Fi access, including in classrooms and labs. Labs: Well-equipped labs with modern machinery for manufacturing, CAD/CAM, automation, and quality control. Classrooms: Smart classrooms with projectors, air-conditioning, and ergonomic seating. Library: A central library with a vast collection of course materials, research papers, and digital resources. Hostel and Campus Facilities: Hostel Quality: Decent rooms with good ventilation, regular cleaning, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Mess and Canteen: Mess food is average with a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, though repetitive. Canteens offer better variety and taste but at a higher cost. Medical Facilities: A 24/7 health center with doctors on call, a pharmacy, and ambulance services. Sports and Games: State-of-the-art sports complexes for indoor and outdoor games, including cricket, football, badminton, gymnasium, and swimming pool.
Faculty: Teaching Quality: While the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable, many fail to engage students effectively. Some rely on outdated teaching methods, making lectures monotonous and theoretical, with limited practical insights. Course Curriculum: The curriculum lacks updates to align with industry demands, focusing heavily on traditional topics. Emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and sustainability are either missing or poorly integrated, leaving students underprepared for modern industrial roles. Semester Exams: Exams are moderately difficult, but the focus is more on rote learning than critical thinking or problem-solving. This approach often frustrates students who aim for industry-relevant skills. The pass percentage hovers around 85%, with many barely scraping through due to poorly designed assessments.
Other: That was the best course I was getting. I am trying to change course. Initially, events were good. The fest was boring, tbh. Regarding campus crowd, you will find many people of different types. Just choose the correct peer group. Campus surroundings (air is polluted). Scholarship is only for those with income less than 5 Lacs. Extracurricular activities are only for CV. If you are not good, you won't be selected.

Society’s Respect, Great Placement, Qualified and Helpful Faculty Members, a Huge Campus.
Placements: In my course of Industrial and Production Engineering, we have a very high placement ratio compared to any other branch at IIT Delhi. Last year, 61 students stood for placements, and 59 got placed. This ratio is even higher than that of Computer Science students. Our average package varies every year, but currently, as of now, I am writing this on December 3, 2024. A total of 3 placement days have passed, and as per my knowledge from my seniors and colleges, the average package of my branch this year is a little over 20 Lakh, and this is actually a good figure to start your career with. People from my branch generally tend to go for a consultancy job, as the name suggests, Production and Industrial Engineering; many also rise to leading positions in top companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure across the whole campus is very good. You get excellent sports and health facilities. We have an open-air theater with a capacity of around 3,000 people. We also have labs equipped with every single technology you might need to get your job done, whether it’s a project or a research paper; you can do anything you want. The only thing that takes me off is the hostels, as some of them were built in the 1970s. They are very well-managed and in good condition, but as a top institute of the country, it actually needs to have much better facilities. The good thing is that work is ongoing in that direction.
Faculty: Faculty members here are world-class professors who have dozens of research papers published in their name, with many more in the process of being published. They also have strong industry connections, which make them very special. Despite their heavy workloads, they are always there for you to help with every problem. What you need to do is just write an email to them. They are very active in responding to you by email, and when in need, they give you special assistance, whether it is for a research internship or just a small doubt. You are welcome to talk to them. The hardest part of IIT life is the exams, as we get very little break between exams. Sometimes, we even have two major exams on the same day. Remember, these are end-semester exams and cover the whole syllabus of the course. Still, these are the times that prepare you to face the toughest engineers in the country. You face pressure and may feel motivated, but you face everything and rise. You become the best of the best.
Other: I chose this course because my rank allowed this as the best option for me. So yes, at IITs, you have very little choice over what you get, as your rank or the JEE Advanced score plays a deciding factor for your branch and college. You may still have control to choose between similar options, but these are limited. Another factor that pulled me toward Production and Industrial Engineering is that it's very close to industrial requirements. In short, it makes you industry-ready, whether it is for a role as a consultant, a position of general manager, or any other leading position in any organization.

Really good infrastructure, facilities, and campus environment.
Placements: IIT Delhi's placements have been excellent and quite better compared to last year, with around 40% of students placed till now. The highest package exceeded 1 crore per annum, while the average package was 20 LPA. Top companies like Google, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs recruited roles in various profiles. Many students secured internships with reputed firms, leading to pre-placement offers.
Infrastructure: IIT Delhi has a very good infrastructure and has decent Wi-Fi, modern labs, air-conditioned classrooms, and a library with a vast collection of books. Hostel facilities are very good, and the floors are equipped with Wi-Fi, study rooms, common rooms, visitor rooms, music rooms, and dance rooms for recreational activities. Food quality is good, though opinions vary.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and helpful here. Although there will always be teachers whose teaching style we don't like. Overall, all the professors are very helping. Semester exams are not very tough and can be passed by studying just one day before the exam.
