How to Calculate Exam Scores Using JEE Advanced Response Sheet and Answer Key

To calculate the scores, candidates have to first check their response sheet and make a note of all answers marked by them during exam. Secondly, they have to check the answer key to know the correct answers.

Once the correct answers and the answer marked by the candidate is known, assign marks to all correct and incorrect answers as per the marking scheme of paper. Subtract the total of correct marks with total of incorrect marks to know your score.

JEE Advanced Marking Scheme

Candidates have to use the JEE Advanced 2026 marking scheme to calculate scores using the response sheet and the answer keys. The official marking scheme is given here for both JEE Advanced 2026 paper 1 and 2.

Q:   If I do not get 75% in class 12 boards, but I pass the JEE Advanced exam, can I apply for JoSAA counselling?
A: 

No, your candidature will be rejected as you need to have minimum of 75% in class 12 to be eligible for admisison to the IITs, NIT, IIITs and GFTIs via the JoSAA counselling. Even if you pass JEE Advanced and JEE Main, of you do not have 75% minimum marks in class 12 boards you will no get admissions.

Q:   What is the cutoff for JEE Advanced 2026?
A: 

The JEE Advanced 2026 cutoff will be released with the results of JEE Advanced 2026. Until then, candidates can check below the JEE Advanced cutoff from the previous years:

The JEE Advanced 2025 cutoff of the common rank list is 20.56%; 18.50% for the GEN-EWS rank list and OBC-NCL rank list; 10.28% for SC, ST, and PwD rank lists across all categories; and 5.14% for Preparatory course rank lists.

All those candidates who score above the cutoff marks in their respective categories can register for JoSAA counselling to participate in the IIT seat allotment process. Note that qualifying the JEE Advaced cutoff will not guarantee a seat in the IITs. Various factors are at play while allotting seats in the IITs. These factors include the demand for a course and IIT, the number of seats on offer, the reservation criteria, etc.

Q:   When will the JoSAA announce the seat allocation results for Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4?

JoSAA 2026 counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualifiers has started. The entire schedule of JoSAA counselling 2026 has been uploaded on josaa.nic.in. The round 1 seat allotment result was announced on June 13 and the round 2 results was announced on June 30.

Q:   Will I get my JEE Advanced result via email?
A: 

The conducting IIT sometimes send the JEE Advanced result on the email of parents and candidates are provided while registering for the exam. However, in certain year the result is not sent via email. Hence, candidates whould not wait for the JEE Advanced result on their email and check it from the official website - jeeadv.ac.in as soon as the result is out.
