Some of the historical facts of Jamia Millia Islamia University are listed below:

JMI University was established in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh on October 29, 1920. This was made possible due to the demands of Mahatma Gandhi and Aligarh Muslim University students to create a separate Muslim institution without British influence.
Jamia Millia Islamia moved from Aligarh to Karol Bagh, New Delhi, in 1925. From there, the university campus shifted to the new establishment at Jamia Nagar, Delhi.
Jamia Millia Islamia finally received the status of a 'Central University' by an act of the Parliament in 1988.

Jamia Milia Islamia’s Mission: The mission values of JMI University is to inculcate nationalistic and secularistic values in its students. This helps promote integral development and the brotherhood of citizens in nation-building.

JMI Founding Members: Many prominent names in the Nationalist Movement were behind the establishment of Jamia Milia Islamia. This includes, along with Mahatma Gandhi, names like Mahmud Hasan, Zakir Hussain, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, as well as several relations of independence activists.

Research and Placement: The Jamia Milia Islamia Faculty and administration put a strong emphasis on research and independence of thought. This includes various activities to build the intellectual caliber of students. King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia visited the university in 2006 and donated USD 30 million for the construction of a library and a research center. Dissatisfied with placement but very good faculty.

Placements: There are a total of 5 departments in engineering, but civil is in the last position for things like placement and student priority. A total of 30 students were placed in 2024-25 in civil companies like L&T, Ambuja Cements, J.K. Laxmi, etc. All are in field jobs with an average salary of 5 LPA, the highest is 9 LPA, and the lowest is 2.9 LPA.

Infrastructure: The quality of mess food is good, especially in A.P.J. hostel and F.R.K. hostel. There are 3 girls' hostels and 6 or 7 boys' hostels, and there are many canteens in Jamia with affordable prices. Sports facilities are available, as well as a clinic. The engineering department has one building, and there is another building for the reading room and library.

Faculty: The civil engineering department has the most senior professors, and they are very knowledgeable and experienced faculty. They are strict teachers, but they help students with academic studies, and the difficulty level of exams is very low, allowing around 80% of students to pass.

2022 is the best year for electrical engineering.

Placements: In 2025, electrical placements are not good. Around 40 students are placed out of 78 students, and these 40 students are placed in Optum, TCS, Zia Semiconductor, JSW, L&T, etc. The lowest package is 3.45 LPA in TCS Ninja, and the average package in electrical engineering in 2024-25 is 7 LPA, while the highest is 18.56 LPA in Optum.

Infrastructure: The overall campus is good. The buildings are good, and the dentistry building is very nice, well-maintained, and well-designed. The engineering department has a personal library and reading room, and all 5 departments of engineering have a common building. There are a total of 6 boys' hostels and 3 girls' hostels. The mess is hygienic, and the food is decent at a reasonable price. Jamia has a sports complex and a free clinic for students.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. They teach us very well. However, some teachers are lazy and don't teach us with their hearts. In the engineering departments, all 5 departments take 2 sessional tests and 1 end-of-semester exam. We can easily pass the exams by studying before them, and approximately 70 students pass their exams.

It offers what a tier-3 college can provide and is good in terms of ROI.

Placements: This year, nearly 50% of students secure campus placements, with an overall placement rate of over 80%, including off-campus placements. The highest package is 24 LPA from Landmark Group UAE, followed by 18 LPA from Splash and 11 LPA from ICICI Bank. Most offers range between 5-8 LPA, primarily for marketing, sales, and HR roles, along with positions in operations, project management, consultancy, and analysis. The lowest package is 5 LPA. It is advisable to seek internships independently, as those offered by the college are not very relevant.

Infrastructure: The basic facilities such as smart boards, microphones and speakers, drinking water, and a girls' common room are available. The departmental library is well-equipped with resources and study materials. There are numerous canteens on campus that offer good food at reasonable prices. The campus is green and beautiful. Talking about the hostel, it has 3-seater rooms, a common room, a reading hall, clean drinking water, and average mess food available.

Faculty: Most of professors are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is revised and updated, but the B-school environment is lacking. The atmosphere is not as competitive as that of a B-school. Semester exams are not very difficult, with easy questions, some practical questions, and case studies included. The pass percentage is 40%.

Before taking Admission in JMI s B.Tech course, go through this review.

Placements: In electrical engineering, about 80% get campus placement, and among them, most are recruited by mass recruiters. The packages are not that high, but the ROI return on investment is high as the fee for the whole 8 semesters is about only 80k Rs hostel excluded, and the average package in electrical engineering is 4 to 5LPA.

Infrastructure: The hostel facility is top notch. Being a non vegetarian, it is heaven to be in a muslim university hostel, as the non veg foods are delicious, the menu is also mouth watering, and on festive occasions, they give special foods, and also the Hostel Annual functions are good.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful, most are PhDs, and even some are IIT students. One of the teachers has been the NITs dean. The course is also relevant, workshops and labs are truly making students industry ready. I have not given any exams yet, but heard from seniors that exams are also tactically good for students growth.

Other: I chose this course as I wanted to study in Jamia Millia Islamia, as I have studied 9 to 12 in Jamias school.

It provided the best placements in 2022. It is the best college for engineering.

Placements: In 2024 and 25, the lowest students got placed from the electronics department in campus placements. Only 45-50% of students get placed, and 2 students are placed in the Optum company with a package of 18.56 LPA. Other students got placed in companies like TCS, Accenture, etc. 1 student got an internship in Accenture, and after the 7th semester, he got a PPO by Accenture.

Infrastructure: The engineering department is very good. Five departments have only one building, one separate library, and a reading building with AC and Wi-Fi connection. There are hostels like FRK, SRK, Kelat, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Allma Iqbal, Dr BR Ambedkar, and 3 girls' hostels. Jamia has a big sports complex and Ansari Medical Services.

Faculty: All five departments, including electronic and communication, take two sessional tests of 15 marks and one end-semester exam of 45 marks. Exams are easy. Electronics faculty members are very good. They give good marks. They teach us very well. There are knowledgeable and experienced faculty members. Approximately 70-80% of students pass exams.

Overall college is good but the infra is very poor. Seniors are also quite helpful.

Placements: Placements are quite good, the average package for CSE is 11 LPA and for other branches is 8-9LPA, around 70% students gets placed, if we exclude the students who opt for higher studies then around 95% students are placed. The highest placement in 2023-2024 was around 59 LPA in Atlassian.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not upto the mark considering it's #3 nirf ranked university, the classrooms specially for 1st year students are the worst, the fans do not work properly and the chair are also very comfortable, it's hard to sit on it for 1 period. Wi-Fi is available throughout the college and speed is also decent, Labs are good and air conditioned, Libraries are the best thing about this university, Zakir Hussain Library is the biggest library fully air conditioned and charging output available at all tables which are at the walls. Hostel is vert hard to get here, so you have to manage living outside the campus. But if you know someone like professor or employee he might secure you a hostel seat, as per my friends who are in hostels, every hostel has 3 seater rooms, food is also okayish and there is non veg 5 days a week (veg also available).

Faculty: Teachers are very qualified from IITs and foreign universities, they help you in every possible way, the teaching is also good if you want to study, otherwise is most of the lectures you can sit at the back and do other things the teacher won't force you to study.

Other: Avoid taking the self finance courses if you are getting lower NITs, the college life is not that great because fests are not good, also music is not supported much in this college.

Jamia Milia Islamia placement data for 2024, according to the University Placement Cell, reports that during the 2024 placements, 12 students have been placed from the BTech and MCA courses. These students were placed by Optum in the capacity of Software Development Associates, and graduated from MCA and BTech (CS/EE/ECE) programs. The salary package offered by Optum to the 12 graduates was recorded as INR 18 LPA.

In the 2023 Jamia Milia Islamia placement cycle, the university recorded 70% placements. Out of these, 59.7% students were placed in the IT sector, followed by Management (14.3%) and Finance (9.7%). During JMI placements 2025 1st phase, over 350 students were placed. 45 companies hired maximum number of students during the placement drive 2023. Further, the highest package and stipend recorded during MCA placement 2023 was INR 8 LPA and INR 40,000. 3 students pursuing Diploma in Electrical Engineering were offered a package of INR 12 LPA by Voltas.

The median packages for JMI BTech and MBA courses in 2023 saw improvements of 47% and 28% respectively as compared to the 2022 cycle. Jamia Millia Islamia is spread across over 239 acre of land. The library of JMI is fully air-conditioned and has over 3.7 lakh books. It has a reading hall with a capacity to accomodate 1,275 students. The library also provdie access to e-journals through its Digital Resource Centre. JMI hostels are well furnised and have the capacity to accomodate 1,200 students, The hostels of JMI have dinning halls, a gymnasium, a mess, and Wi-Fi facilities. JMI is a partly residential campus.
