- The JEE Main registration 2026 is now open for IIT Roorkee admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses. The registration deadline for session 1 is Nov 27, 2025, and the exam will tentatively be conducted between Jan 21 and Jan 30, 2026.
- The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 application correction window is now open till Nov 13, 2025, for admission to the MSc course. The IIT JAM 2026 exam is scheduled for Feb 15, 2026.
- The CEED registration 2026 is now over for IIT Roorkee admission to the M.Des course, and the CEED 2026 exam is scheduled for Jan 18, 2026.

IIT Roorkee was established in 1847 and is the seventh IIT recognised as an Institution of National Importance. IIT Roorkee is NAAC accredited and AICTE &UGC approved . IIT Roorkee is a public technical research university located in Uttarakhand. The college is the oldest technical institution in Asia that was given university status in 1949. According to the NIRF ranking 2025, the institute ranked 1 in Architecture category and 6 in Engineering category.
IIT Roorkee course admission is based on the entrance exam. To get admission, the institute accepts entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, IIT JAM, CEED, and NATA. Its reputation is very good and placement is just awesome there. Coming to the question part, placements for electronics and communication are very good. In the year 2015, the highest package offered was 25 Lacs per annum and the average package was 10.55 Lacs per annum. This year the highest placement for ECE is 16 LPA. The placement drive is still going on, so stats may fluctuate. In the year 2016, 88% students were placed last year. 12% placed in the core companies, 87% got placed in software companies and remaining 1% got placed in finance, analytics and consulting. The average package of under graduate course (ECE) was 15 Lacs per annum and in integrated dual degree (IDD) course was 13 Lacs per annum.

The total tuition fees for BSc courses at IIT ranges between INR 8 Lacs to INR 10 Lacs for course duration of four-five years, as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is, however, subject to changes and hence, is indicative. Apart from this tuition fees, the college also charges students for few more components mentioned below.

JEE Advanced 2024 registrations have begun. Candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2024 are eligible to apply for the said exam. The last date to register for JEE Advanced is May 07, 2024. The deadline to pay the registration fees is May 10, 2024. The exam is scheduled on May 26, 2024 and the admit cards for the same will be available from May 17, 2024 May 26, 2024.
IIT Roorkee BSc admissions are done based on applicants’ merit in JEE Main+ JEE Advanced. So in order to apply for IIT Roorkee BSc courses students must register for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. Students who have qualified the JEE Main are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced. Listed below are steps to apply for the said examination:
- Visit JEE Advanced official website
- Click on the ‘Registration’ option located in the main menu
- Generate account credentials
- Fill out the available registration form
- Upload the scanned copies of required documents
- Pay the registration fees to complete JEE Advanced Registration process
Once all the seats have been allocated via JoSAA counseling, students would be required to report at the allocated institute for verification of documents. These documents include:
- JEE (Advanced) – Seat allotment letter / Offer letter of JEE Advanced (issued by the organizing Chairman JEE Advanced)
- Mark sheets & Certificates of 10 and 12 Classes or its equivalent
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- Transfer/Migration and Character Certificate (original)
- Undertaking by the parent/guardian and student for continuation of study at IIT Roorkee
- Health Certificate
- Anti-Ragging Affidavit (on INR10 Non-Judiciary Stamp Paper) by the student

- Receipt/proof for the payment made by candidates at the time of seat allotment for adjustment
