IIT Bombay has released the GATE 2021 Information Brochure and important dates. Candidates can read below to know relevant details about GATE 2021

GATE 2021

The IIT Bombay has released the information brochure and important dates for GATE 2021. GATE 2021 application form will be available for candidates from September 14. The last date to apply for the exam is September 30 without a late fee and October 7 with a late fee (Rs 500).

The GATE application form will be available online only on the official website: gate.iitb.ac.in. Candidates will also be provided the facility to make corrections in category, paper and examination city in their filled-in GATE application form 2021.

GATE 2021 admit card will be issued to all the registered candidates on January 8. The GATE 2021 exam dates have already been announced by the IIT Bombay. GATE 2021 will be conducted on February 5 to 7 and 12 to 14. Candidates can download the GATE 2021 information brochure by clicking on the link above. Syllabus for each of the 25 old papers has been revised for GATE 2021 and is available on the website and brochure.

GATE 2021 eligibility criteria have also been revised. As per the new criteria, candidates who are in their pre-final year of qualifying degree can also appear in GATE. Another thing which has been added is that candidates can now appear in two subjects unlike one till the last years.

40 marks in GATE will approximately give a rank between 2000 to 5000 depending on the paper difficulty level and the number of registered candidates in that particular branch.  Obtaining 40 marks is mainly considered average, opening chances to a few new IITs (less popular branches) and NITs.

No, GATE questions are not exactly repeated. However, the concept, core, and question format may remain the same. Therefore, candidates must focus on concept-building and practice GATE PYQs as many times as possible. In addition, solve mock test paper to improve accuracy and time management.

Yes, GATE has negative marking for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only. In GATE question paper, MCQs will be of one and two marks. Hence, the marking scheme for such questions can be checked below -

  • For one mark MCQ - 1/3rd mark will be deducted
  • For two mark MCQ - 2/3rd mark will be deducted

NHCE Bangalore accepts GATE score for admission to M.Tech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants can also get into M.Tech course based on their Karnataka PGCET scores. Selected candidates have to confirm their seat by paying the course fees.
