Types of GATE Application Status
After the submission of the GATE 2026 application form, candidates can check their application status. The following are the different types of GATE application statuses -
- Received - means the GATE authorities have received your application form successfully
- Under scrutiny - means your application is under review/verification purposes
- Accepted- means your GATE registration form is approved for admission purposes
- Application submitted- this means that your payment has not been completed
- Application submitted and payment received successfully - You have submitted your application form and made payment successfully. Next it will go to the scrutiny process.
- Under Scrutiny: Defect rectification done - Some defects were there in your application form and rectified the defects. It will go for scrutiny again.
- Your application is incomplete or defective - this means that there are some defects in your application form and rectification is not done yet.

The GATE application form under scrutiny states that your application form is being reviewed. It’s a process of rectifying your information to verify your eligibility. The GATE authorities run a verification process, where they recheck whether all the details provided are correct.
Candidates should not worry about this. If there is any discrepancy in the GATE 2026 registration form, the authorities will inform you of their registered email ID and mobile number. Candidates can refer to the email below to understand the GATE application under the scrutiny process.
Can I edit my GATE 2026 Application Form if it's under scrutiny?
Candidates cannot make any changes or edits if the GATE application form is under the scrutinising process. In such cases, the GATE authorities will contact you personally via email or text.
Candidates must note the following -
- For any photo and signature discrepancies, GATE authorities will contact you via registered email ID or contact number
- For any other changes to be made in the form will be accessible during the GATE application form correction process
Steps to Fill GATE 2026 Application Form
The application form for GATE 2026 was available online and steps to apply can be checked below -
- Go to official website of GATE - gate2026.iitg.ac.in
- Select "application portal"
- Click on “New Candidate Registration” to register
- Once registration is complete, candidates will receive an enrollment ID and password on their communication details.
- Login using the details and fill rest of details
- Upload photo, signature, and photo ID (as per the specifications mentioned)
- Confirm declaration and submit form
- Keep a copy for future reference

The GATE 2026 registration form is avaailable at gate2026.itg.ac.in. The GATE 2026 application fee has been revised and can be checked below -
