Many students chose the path of government jobs after doing BTech. The government of India provides lucrative career opportunities for engineering graduates in various fields. Some of most preferred govt jobs students aim are

  • Civil Services Examination (CSE)
  • Public Sector Undertakings (PSU)
  • Banks
  • Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineer (SSC JE)
  • Defence Forces (CDS)

Civil Services Examination: This is the most preferred govt job engineering graduate aim, considering the power and prestige it offers. It offers posts like Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Revenue Services (IRS) among others. The selection process for this job includes written examination (pre and mains exam) and personal Interview.

Public Sector Undertakings (PSU): Jobs at govt PSUs are known for high salary pay and benefits. Some of the most sought PSUs are Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL). The selection process of PSU is through GATE exam and personal interview.

Banks: Public Sector Banks like SBI offer promising career opportunity for BTech graduates. The salary pacakges in banks are very high with entry level pay more than 50,000. The selection process of banks include written examination and personal interview.

Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineer (SSC JE): This is one of the most preferred govt jobs by BTech graduates. The candidates selected for this post are posted in Defense, CPWD, Central  Water Commission and many others. The selection process include written examination and interview.

Defense Forces (CDS): Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS) is opted by many BTeh graduates who wishes to serve the motherland by wearing uniform. The candidates selected through CDS are posted as Lieutenants and advance to higher posts like General. The selection process includes written examination and interview conducted by Staff Selection Board.
