As per students' initial reaction, JEE Main 2024 Jan 30 Shift 2 exam was on moderate level of difficulty. Chemistry Easy, Physics a bit tougher and Maths difficult. Questions asked in Physics of Jan 30 shift 2 was formula based. 

Q:   How many questions are asked in JEE Main exam?
A:

Paper 1 has 75 questions where Physics Chemistry and Mathematics, each section has 25 questions. Out of 25 questions, 20 are MCQs and five are numerical value questions. You must answer all 5 numerical value-type questions. All 20 multiple-choice questions are compulsory. Complete all 75 questions in 3 hours.

Q:   Do I need to attempt all the questions in JEE Main exam?
A:

NO, it is compulsory to attempt all questions in the JEE Main exam. The JEE Main exam has negative marking and candidates must answer only those questions for which they know the correct answer. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in JEE Main that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in JEE Main?
A:

There are two question types in JEE Main exam. Multiple choice questions and numerical ability questions. In MCQ, every question has 4 options with only 1 correct answer. Select the correct option. In numerical ability question type, no options are there. Solve them and write answer using keyword and mouse.

Mathematics: This section was easy to moderate in difficulty level. Weightage was given to chapters of Algebra. In Algebra, questions were asked from Matrices & Determinants, Complex Number, Progressions, Permutation & Combination, Binomial Theorem, Statistics & Vector-2 ques, 3D Geometry.Three questions were asked from Probability. In Calculus, questions asked from Functions, Limits, Continuity, Differential Equations, Definite Integral. Co-ordinate Geometry had questions from Parabola & Hyperbola. Few MCQs & numerical based questions had lengthy calculations but Easy.

Q:   What is Chapterwise weightage of class 11 and 12 topics in JEE Main?
A:

Chapterwise weightage of class 11 and 12 topics in JEE Main are mentioned below:

  • Physics: Current Electricity Waves AC, Magnetism, Laws of Motion Work, Power and Energy.
  • Chemistry the high weightage topics are s and p block elements, Coordination compounds, Thermodynamics Gaseous state, Chemical bonding, Atomic structure, Polymers, Environmental Chemistry Organic Chemistry.
  • Mathematics, the high weightage topics are Sequence and Series Vectors and 3D, Integral and Differential Calculus, Definite and Indefinite Integral.
Q:   Can I change the language of the question paper during the exam?
A:

JEE Main question paper is in English, Hindi and language selected when you filled application form. In total, JEE Main is in 13 languages and you can select any language out of available options. You cannot switch language of question paper during exam.

Physics: This section was moderate in difficulty level. Questions were asked from almost all chapters. Weightage was given to Current Electricity & Magnetism. Some good questions from chapters of Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work Power & Energy, Heat & Thermodynamics, Sound & waves, Gravitation, Electrostatics, Modern Physics, Semiconductors. From optics, two questions were asked. Numerical based questions were Easy. Physics was Balanced section.

Chemistry: This section was easy in difficulty level. Inorganic & Organic Chemistry had more questions as compared to Physical Chemistry. Questions asked from GOC, Alcohols, Ether & Phenols, Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, Aryl & Alkyl Halides mixed concept questions, Biomolecules. Physical Chemistry had questions from Mole Concept, Thermodynamics, Solutions & Chemical Equilibrium. Inorganic Chemistry had questions from p-block elements, Coordination Compounds ,Chemical Bonding- 3 questions & Periodicity. Some NCERT fact-based questions asked. 

JEE Main 2024 January 30 Shift 2 Analysis by Aakash

Mathematics: This paper was moderate to difficultly level. A good number of questions were asked from Vectors, 3D and Conic sections, Complex numbers and Matrices and Determinants. Class 11 questions were dominant in the paper. Almost all the topics were covered. The main thing is questions were both lengthy and tricky which took a lot of time to solve. 

Physics: This part was of easy to moderate difficulty because of some good questions asked in the exam. Questions from Modern Physics, Mechanics, Electromagnetism and Current electricity were there in the paper. Most of the questions were asked from the class 12 syllabus. 

Chemistry: This section was of moderate difficulty. Very few questions in this shift were asked from Physical chemistry. Most of the questions were from the Organic Chemistry part. Two to three questions were asked from p-block elements. Questions from prominent chapters like Hydrocarbons, Coordinate Bonding and Aldehyde, Ketone and Carboxylic acids were asked. Overall coverage of the chapters was uniform. Among classes 11 and 12, more questions are asked from the class 12 syllabus. The paper was by and large based on NCERT books.

Mathematics

Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on Chapters of Calculus & Algebra.

More than one question was asked from Vectors, 3-D Geometry, Matrices, Limits and Differential Equations.

In Calculus, questions asked from Continuity & Differentiability, Indefinite Integrals, Area, and Differential Equations.

In Algebra- Probability, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Statistics, Progressions, Quadratic Equations, Matrices & Determinants.

In Coordinate Geometry questions were asked from Circle and Ellipse.

The Numerical Section had lengthy calculations from chapters of Calculus & Coordinate Geometry. A few questions were reported as lengthy.

Physics 

Questions asked from Kinematics,  Laws of Motion, Work Power & Energy, Gravitation, Heat & Thermodynamics, Magnetism,  Optics- 2 questions, Capacitance, Current Electricity, Modern Physics, and Semiconductors.

Both MCQs & Numerical-based questions were Lengthy. A few fact-based questions from class XII chapters of NCERT were also asked.

Students felt more weightage given to XII Class chapters.

Chemistry

Organic & Physical Chemistry was given more weightage compared to Inorganic Chemistry.

Questions asked from Ionic Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding had match list type questions, Mole Concept, Chemical Kinetics, General Organic Chemistry- 2 questions, IUPAC names,  Alcohol, Ether & Phenol, Amines, Aryl & Alkyl halides, Coordination Compounds, d & f block elements, Periodic Table.

Some questions were directly asked from the NCERT textbook, which made this section easy.

For upcoming Shift 2 students for Jan 30 as per experts they can revise formulas properly.

JEE Main 2024 Official Answer Key

The NTA will release the JEE Main 2024 answer key. The provisional answer key will be released by the NTA on the official website for the candidates to submit their grievances within a certain period of time. The JEE Main 2024 answer key for session 1 will be released under candidate login on the official website. If candidates are not satisfied with the NTA answer key 2024, then they can raise objections online through the login for the JEE Main 2024 answer key challenge. The final answer key will be released after taking into consideration the challenges submitted by the candidates. Based on the final answer key, the JEE Main 2024 result will be announced.
