MHT CET CAP Round 2 Cutoff 2026: What to Expect

The Round 2 cutoff is expected to be different from the Round 1 closing percentile because a significant number of seats remain available after the first round. The Round 2 seat matrix showed more than 54,700 vacant seats across institutes and courses. The availability of these seats could result in changes in closing percentiles for several branches and colleges.

Candidates targeting highly preferred institutes and branches such as Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science should, however, be prepared for comparatively higher closing percentiles. Less preferred or newly available branches may have more movement in Round 2.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   Which college will I get with 97.5 percentile in MH CET?
A:

With 97.5 percentile in MHT-CET, you have a strong chance to get admission in reputed colleges like PICT Pune, VIT Pune, SPIT Mumbai, or Thakur College of Engineering for branches such as IT, ECE, or Electrical. COEP and VJTI may be difficult for CSE. Government colleges like WCE Sangli, SGGS Nanded, and GCOE Amravati are also good options. You can get preferred branches in private colleges and core branches in government ones. Your chances further improve if you belong to a reserved category or have home university advantage within Maharashtra.

Q:   What is the minimum cutoff required for admission to M.Tech at COEP?
A:

For the General HS category, the cutoff ranged from 4.33 to 20.54 percentile for M.Tech course specialisations. Therefore, students need to attain at least 4.33 percentile for admissions at COEP Pune. MHT CET M.Tech percentiles are required for admission to M.Tech courses at COEP, Pune.

Students should note that the above mentioned percentile is only valid for the General HS category in the last round. Other rounds and categories will have different minimum qualifying percentiles. To know more, students can click here

Q:   Which colleges can I get for engineering if I have 75 percentile in MHT CET via open category?
A:

Rank around 50k, some colleges are :

1. Government College of Engineering, Amravati

2. Government College of Engineering, Jalgaon

3. Prof. Ram Meghe Institute of Technology, Badnera

4. K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and IT (less competitive branches)

5. Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune (non-core branches)

6. MIT Academy of Engineering, Pune (non-CSE branches)

Many private self-financing colleges throughout Maharashtra

Q:   Where can I check the round-wise cutoff for all rounds of MHT CET counseling?
A:

The round-wise cutoff ranks for MHT CET counselling can be checked on the counselling website at fe2026.mahacet.org. The cutoff for each round for all the participating institutes and branch is made available on the MHT CET portal. Candidates can also check MHT CET cutoff for all participating colleges on the Shiksha page.

Factors Affecting MHT CET Round 2 Cutoff

Several factors will determine the MHT CET CAP Round 2 closing percentile:

  • Number of vacant seats after CAP Round 1

  • Number of candidates participating in Round 2

  • Candidate preferences entered during option filling

  • College and branch popularity

  • Category-wise seat availability

  • Maharashtra State and All India candidature

  • Previous round closing percentile

  • Number of candidates accepting or upgrading their Round 1 seats

Since candidates were allowed to modify their preferences during Round 2 option entry, the final closing percentile can move significantly for courses where more seats are available.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   I scored 120 in MHT CET. Which college will I get? I belong to the general category.
A:

With 120 marks in MHT-CET (General category), you are unlikely to get top colleges/branches (like CSE/IT in COEP, VJTI) but can aim for mid-tier private/university-affiliated colleges in less competitive branches.

Q:   Can I take admission in D.K.T.E. Society's Textile and Engineering Institute for B.Tech. in Fashion Technology with 63.57% in MHT CET?
A:

With 63.57% in MHT CET, you do have a fair chance to get B.Tech in Fashion Technology at D.K.T.E. Institute, especially if you're in a reserved category or from the home state. Fill it in your CAP options and keep backup colleges too, just in case the cutoffs go higher this year

Q:   I got a low score in MHT CET, can I get admission in Engineering in any government college?
A:

With an low score in MHT CET you still have chance to get into government colleges if you come under SC/ST category, also on branch preferences you would still have an chance , also on further rounds the vacant seats will be filled with low score students.

Q:   On what factors does MHT CET cutoff depends?
A:

Many factors influence MHT CET cutoff like number of candidates appearing, difficulty level of entrance exam, seat capacity,  cutoff trends, etc.

Sorry, but according to me with 96.09 percentile in MHT-CET through PCB, you cannot get admission to ICT for B.Tech Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology. The cuttoff competitively closes around 99.0 to 99.9 percentile.
