NMDC Recruitment through GATE

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India is the single largest producer of iron ore in India. NMDC Ltd has planned to recruit for Executive Trainee (Tech.) posts in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mining Engineering (MN), Civil Engineering (CE), and Computer Science and Information Technology (CS) disciplines, based on GATE 2026 scorecards.  

GATE is a prestigious national-level exam that assesses candidates for a comprehensive understanding in various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology and others. IIT Guwahati is conducting the GATE 2026 exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. 

GATE 2026 registrations are ongoing, and the last date to apply is September 28 (without late fees) and October 9 (with late fees).

Q:   Who is conducting the GATE 2026 exam?
A: 

The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, will be conducting the GATE 2026 exam. The dates are OUT now. IIT Guwahati last conducted the GATE exam in 2018. Candidates who want to apply for M.Tech or any research programmes can apply for GATE. The application window is available till October 7 without late fees (revised), till October 13 (with late fee) and the exam will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. 

 

Q:   What are the GATE exam shift timings?
A: 

There are two shift timings for the GATE exam. Candidates can find the details of the shift timing on the official website. The GATE shift timings are as follows -

  • Forenoon  - 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
  • Afternoon - 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Candidates can also find the exam timing details mentioned in the GATE admit card. Candidates are advised to appear for the GATE 2026 exam on the date prescribed in the hall ticket. 

Q:   When will the GATE 2026 exam be conducted?
A: 

IIT Guwahati conducted GATE 2026 exam on Feb 7 and 8 in two shifts. Then on Feb 14 and 15 in two shifts. The exam timings are - forenoon (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and afternoon - 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Branch-wise exam dates has been released on official website - gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

NMDC Recruitment through GATE 2026:Eligibility criteria 

NMDC has set a criterion for recruiting candidates through GATE 2026, Candidates must fulfil the given criteria ,such as age, education and other factors to be eligible for participation in the recruitment process. 

Maximum Age for the post of executive trainee has been set 27 years, however special quota students can get age relaxation based on GOI norms.

Candidates must possess the minimum education qualification required for NMDC Executive trainee recruitment as per the NMDC requirements. Candidate must have either of the following educational qualifications. 

  • Bachelor's degree of engineering or technology: passed/ Appearing in last semester*(those who are in last semester must present their passing certificate during group discussion round.) 
  • Master's degree of engineering or technology: passed/ Appearing 
  • Integrated degree of engineering / Technology: Passed/Appearing 
  • All qualification degree must be certified by UGC or AICTE 
  • Candidates should have a minimum score of 60% in their bachelors. (OBC/Departmental candidates gets 5% relaxation & SC/ST/PwD candidates gets a 10% relaxation in marks)

Q:   What is the validity of the GATE 2026 scorecard?
A: 

GATE scorecard 2026 is valid for three years, which means the scorecard can be used till 2029. Candidates can download their scorecard using their enrollment ID and password. It can be used for MTech, PhD, Research work admissions and PSU recruitment.

Q:   In how many cities will GATE 2026 exam be conducted?
A: 

The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted in more than 200 cities across eight zones in India. There are no international centres. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam must travel to India. The details regarding the test city and address will be mentioned in the GATE admit card. 

Q:   Can I get on-the spot scribe facility during the GATE 2026 exam?
A: 

No, on the spot scribe facility is not available during the GATE exam day. Candidates have to apply or avail the GATE scribe assistance facility while filling the GATE application form 2026. Also, the applicant has to upload the relevant document in PDF format to proof his/her eligibility for scribe.

NMDC Recruitment through GATE 2026:Application process

Students must keep the soft copies of all the required documents before applying for the NMDC recruitment through GATE 2026. The list of required documents is mentioned below.

List of required documents: 

  • GATE Scorecard 
  • Educational qualification certificate: 10th,12th, and degree certificate. 
  • Caste/Disability certificate (if required) 
  • Recent passport-size colour photograph  
  • Signature scanned copy. 

Candidates must visit official website of NMDC to fill the application form.

Application form filling steps:

  • Visit NMDC official website: www.nmdc.co.in 
  • Click on three horizontal lines and pick “career” tab 
  • Click on apply online *(once executive trainee post online window is open) 
  • Fill in all the required details and upload required documents. 
  • Pay the application fee using given payment gateways (UPI/Net banking/ Cards) 

Candidates will have to provide the details, such as name, email, and certificate numbers, very carefully. If any information is mismatched during the document verification candidature will get cancelled. The candidate can check the details to be filled: 

After filling up the application form, Candidates need to pay an application fee of INR 500. However, SC/ST/PwD and Departmental candidate are exempted from this fee. NMDC Executive trainee application fee amount is nonrefundable in every scenario whether candidates get selected or not. After paying the application fee, candidates can submit the application form. Candidates must pay the fee otherwise, their form will be considered completed and they will lose their candidature status. 

NMDC Recruitment through GATE 2026: Selection process 

NMDC executive trainee recruitment will be 3 tier selection process. GATE-qualified candidates will be invited to apply for the vacant posts as per their respective disciplines. NMDC will release a list of shortlisted candidates based on GATE scores. 

All shortlisted candidates will be called for the next round of personal interview and group discussion. It is mandatory to qualify in a personal interview; else they will fail to secure a post solely based on the GATE score. All three stages of selection carry different weightage

NMDC Recruitment through GATE 2026: Salary & Employment Benefits

NMDC will recruit candidates for the post of technical executive trainee, after completion of a specific training period, trainees will be designated as assistant managers with good pay scale. Post training candidates will be entitled for 60000 to 180000 Rs. per month basic pay and other employment benefits are listed below for reference:

In GATE, normalisation process generally makes a gap of 4 to 7 marks (approximately) between actual and normalised scores. However, if difficulty level of paper was high then the marks might increase. On other hand, for easier paper, marks may reduce offering fairness across sessions.
