GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an All India Examination that tests a students' comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. The exam is together conducted by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) and the scores of the same is accepted in various Indian higher education institutes and Public sector units(PSUs) across the country.

PSUs or a public sector enterprise are state-owned enterprise in India. These companies are owned by the union government of India, or one of the many state or territorial governments, or both.
