You can also opt for other organisations if you do not get into the desired PSUs. In our country there are many organisations, in which they are going to give a job opportunity based on the GATE score.

GATE is one of the most important and prestigious entrance exams. However, this doesn’t mean your options to grow end if you score low or below your own expectations. No need to feel sad if your score is low.

Should you reattempt?

If your score is enough to get admission for postgraduation or to join a public sector undertaking (PSU), then take that opportunity even you are not really satisfied with your score. If your score is too low to get a seat in IIT or NIT then you are advised to reattempt the exam. If your score is too low for PSUs then you must give another attempt. Because if you get a good score in GATE examination you will definitely get good government job. So, I suggest you prepare well for the upcoming exam and give your best, try to get a good score. With low score you may get seats in private colleges, deemed universities, government universities you can also utilise this opportunity.

  2. Join the other organisation which you will get opportunity according to your GATE score. If you have the experience you can change to your desired organisation within the span of one year.

There are many industries that give job opportunity based on GATE score such as ONGC, DRDO, Power Grid, BHEL, GAIL, BSNL, SAIL, etc.,

Before applying to PSUs recruitment, candidates must check the eligibility criteria kept by the authorities. Having a valid GATE score is criteria,  various PSUs may specify certain requirements which need to be fulfilled by the candidates. Some of the criteria include age, GPA, etc. Moreover, if you want to apply for any PSU’S there will be a separate application form for PSUs recruitment through GATE. Also,  you should have an idea about previous years’ recruitment. Then you will get a good analysis whether you are eligible for the desired company or not. And also you can have self-evaluation as to which PSU you should apply for. You must and should update yourself day by day by accessing interest. Through GATE score most of the companies definitely provide you employment. Your entire life will settle through your gate score if you got placed in best PSUs.

What are other opportunities?

Failure may be common but you need not be disappointed, there are good days ahead of you. Unsuccessful attempt doesn’t mean your entire life is gone, but it is a new beginning to your life. However, it is not good to let sorrow dictate your life. You must try to overcome all these negative situations in your way and turn them into positive as well as motivational things.

If you have still confidence and hope in the upcoming examination. You better to follow these tips and tricks to avoid failure.

  • Analyse your present situation
  • Compare your present preparation with before preparation and avoid the mistakes what you did before
  • Have a proper study plan, if necessary consult nearby coaching centres
  • Take suggestions from your faculty, seniors, friends who scored good marks in GATE
  • Keep in mind not to compare with others.
  • If you want to relax your brain take some time for relaxing
  • Have a proper schedule for regular revision as well as for regular mock tests
  • Have faith and be positive
  • Try to habituate to write a short notes during your preparation. It help you for future reference like a day before the examination
  • Take guidance and motivation when you necessary
  • Practising sample & previous years question papers

NHCE Bangalore accepts GATE score for admission to M.Tech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants can also get into M.Tech course based on their Karnataka PGCET scores. Selected candidates have to confirm their seat by paying the course fees.

Candidates need to graduate from BTech at IIT Dhanbad with a minimum GPA of 8.0 or above to qualify for M.Tech admissions without GATE. Only the candidates who clear BTech from IIT Dhanbad are allowed admissions without GATE into M.Tech at II Dhanbad with the aforementioned score.

No, the GATE 2026 has already been concluded for IIT Dhanbad M.Tech admissions. The GATE 2026 registrations are closed in the month of October. Candidates who have appeared for GATE will need to wait for all merit-lists to be revealed.

The PhD admissions to the Institute Assistantship courses at IIT Guwahati require candidates to appear for the GATE or CEED. 

However, PhD admissions to the other categories of PhD courses at IIT Guwahati are not decided on the basis of the aforementioned entrance exams scores.

Bachelor's degree holder from IITs with a CGPA of 8.0 or above can get direct admission in M.Tech programme of IIT Dhanbad without GATE. The respective department reviews such applications and seats for such aspirants are supernumerary.
