The Consortium of NLUs has begun the CLAT 2026 application process. Students who are interested to appear in CLAT Exam must fill the CLAT 2026 Application Form on or before the last date. It must be noted that the last date to fill CLAT Application Form is October 31, 2025. The official website to complete CLAT Registration is consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The CLAT 2026 exam date is December 7.

CLAT 2026 Highlights

What is CLAT Exam 2026?

The Common Law Admission Test is a law entrance exam. It is conducted for admission to 5-year integrated LLB (UG) and one-year LLM (PG) courses. The exam is held for admission to 24 NLUs for UG courses and 21 NLUs for PG courses.

Based on CLAT scores, the admissions are offered by NLUs. Apart from the NLUs in India:

  1. 61 other private affiliate colleges accept CLAT exam scores. Check here complete list.
  2. Some public organizations such as ONGC and BHEL use CLAT-PG scores for recruitment. 

CLAT is conducted for admissions to law courses offered by 24 NLUs in India. Therefore, candidates must know the key elements of the exam as given in the table below:

CLAT is one of the most important law entrance exams in the country and is the most difficult to crack. CLAT 2026 Application Process

CLAT 2026 registration is currently underway. The CLAT 2026 Exam application form is available online. Students must fill the application for CLAT 2026 on or before the deadline.Students can follow the simple steps given below to submit the CLAT Application Form.

CLAT 2026 Registration

To complete the CLAT Application Process, students have to first complete CLAT Registration. The candidate can register by entering their name, mobile number, and email id. Also, select and confirm a password for the newly created applicant account. To fill the CLAT Application Form you have to complete the registration process. Once registration process is over, candidates can follow the steps given below to complete the application process.

How to fill CLAT 2026 Application Form?

Login - Log in to access the application form.  

Select the program of study - After logging in, the first thing is to select the program of study 5-year LLB or one-year LLB

Fill the form - There are different fields like personal information, communication details, qualifying examination status, exam centre preferences (THREE centres can be selected in the order of preference), and reservation. All fields need to be filled. Check what all documents should to be uploaded in the prescribed specification (refer to the table below).

Submit the form - Once the details are duly filled, agree to the declaration, give consent and submit the form.    

CLAT NLU Preference List 2026:

Students must note that from CLAT 2026 onwards it is mandatory to give their preferences to NLUs while submitting their CLAT 2026 Application Form. students must select their preferences carefully, as the consortium will only consider those NLUs that have been mentioned in the preference list.

Pay the application fee - In the last step, pay the application fee (which is category-specific) in online mode using credit or debit cards, or net banking. Note that in addition to the exam fee, Students will have to pay an additional INR 500 if they want to opt for previous years' question papers.

CLAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria 

Students must understand the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Consortium properly before filling the application form for CLAT Exam. It must be noted that the CLAT Eligibility Criteria is different for both CLAT UG and CLAT PG. Except one common thing that is there is no age bar to appear in the exam. 

CLAT 2026 Application Form Correction

The Consortium will give chance to Students to make changes in the already submitted CLAT Application Form 2026. For this, the CLAT Application Correction Window 2026 will be opened. Students can make changes in the already submitted CLAT 2026 Application Form by visiting the official website. Students will be given the option to make changes to CLAT Test Centre preferences too. The CLAT Application Correction Window 2026 will remain open for at least 5-10 days. Students can make the following changes until the CLAT 2026 Application Form Correction window is open:

CLAT 2026 Application Correction Window: What all can be edited?

Students can make changes in the CLAT Application by following the steps given below:

  1. Click on the application correction link
  2. Login using mobile number and password
  3. Click on the Edit Application button
  4. Go to 'Category and Seat Reservation' for NLU preferences, as well as, Personal details tab for OBC category status, whether Non-Creamy Layer or Creamy Layer
  5. Make the required changes, Click on Next button
  6. Click on the declaration checkbox, and Save to submit the changes

CLAT 2026 Syllabus

Students who are planning to appear must refer to the CLAT syllabus. It must be noted that the syllabus is published by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs). The Commission released the syllabus of CLAT UG 2026, CLAT LLM 2026 along with the exam pattern. CLAT 2026 Syllabus PDF is made available for download on the official website.The CLAT question papers are set strictly based on the syllabus given by the consortium. CLAT 2026 Preparation Tips

While preparing for CLAT, candidates are advised to have a plan in mind. Read further to know more:

Section-wise CLAT preparation tips for UG courses:

  1. CLAT preparation tips for English Section - The difficulty level of questions in this section is the same as that of Class 12 English. 
  2. CLAT preparation tips for Current Affairs including GK - To prepare for GK and Current Affairs section of CLAT, candidates must keep track of all the latest news and events regularly by reading newspapers and magazines such as The Chronicles and Outlook India.   3. CLAT preparation tips for Legal Reasoning - To prepare for CLAT Legal Reasoning section, candidates must improve reading and analytical skills by reading newspapers and blogs related to static and current legal issues. You can also read newspaper and magazine columns by some of the prominent lawyers of India. Practice a Legal Reasoning passage daily. While practising, do not let your biases or previous knowledge of the law affect your answer. Remember that the answer to the question is present in the given passage only. 
  4. CLAT preparation tips for Logical Reasoning - Few important topics to prepare for the CLAT logical reasoning section include Relationships, Analogies, Logical Sequences, and Arguments. Learning shortcuts to solve Logical Reasoning questions can prove extremely helpful. While attempting the passage, identify the premises and sets of arguments first. Practise at least one passage of Logical Reasoning daily. 
  5. CLAT preparation tips for Quantitative Techniques - The difficulty level of questions in the CLAT 2026 Quantitative Techniques section is the same as that of Class 10 Maths. To ace the section, it is important to have conceptual clarity of all the topics of the Class 10 Maths syllabus. Important topics to prepare for the section are Basic Algebra, Ratios and Proportions, Mensuration and Statistics. Learning shortcuts to solve questions can prove helpful in this section as well.

CLAT PG 2026 Preparation Tips 

In the CLAT PG exam 2026, questions will be asked from Law subjects that are taught at the graduation level. Given below are important CLAT preparation tips for PG courses:

  • Know the CLAT syllabus and exam pattern for LLM well 
  • Read and refresh your knowledge of important judgments
  • Gain complete knowledge of important constitutional and legislative provisions
  • Practice essay writing with a clear presentation of issues, facts, arguments, and conclusions

CLAT 2026 Mock Test

The Consortium will share online mock tests for CLAT 2026 UG and PG exams one month before the exam. They will activate the links of online CLAT mock tests/ sample papers for CLAT 2026 on their official website, i.e. consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Check out some points that were advised to candidates while attempting CLAT 2026 mock tests:

  • Enroll in a good online mock test series
  • Practice at least one mock test everyday along with one previous year CLAT question paper or sample paper
  • Be wary of the time while attempting the CLAT mock test. Although there is no sectional time limit, it is advised that you allot fixed time to each section to ensure efficient use of the total two hours for the exam
  • After attempting each mock test, note down your weak and strong areas for the exam and work on them accordingly
  • After attempting at least five mock tests, sample papers and question papers try to analyse the important topics from which most questions have been asked in the paper. Focus on the important topics more.

Along with the CLAT mock tests 2026, it is also important to solve past years’ CLAT question papers and sample papers. Attempting CLAT question paper helps candidates understand questions asked in the exam – difficult, easy, lengthy or tricky, which will work best for CLAT preparation 2026.

CLAT 2026 Admit Card

The Consortium is expected to release the CLAT admit card at least 15 days before the CLAT Exam. Students can download the CLAT hall ticket until 1.30 pm of the exam day. Students can download CLAT Admit Card 2026 by following the simple steps given below:

  • Enter the mobile number and password
  • Download the admit card
  • Check all details mentioned on it.

CLAT 2026 Exam Day Guidelines

Check out some important CLAT Exam Day Guidelines to follow to avoid stress on exam day:

  • Reporting Time: Reach on the mentioned time
  • Admit Card: Carry a printed copy of your CLAT Admit Card along with a valid photo ID proof
  • No Electronic Devices
  • Dress Code: Try to wear comfortable cloths as you have to sit for long.
  • Proper Identification: Ensure that the photo and details on your admit card match with your ID proof

CLAT 2026 Exam Centres

The NLU Consortium has released the list of exam cities for the CLAT exam. Students can select at least three CLAT Test Centre (nearest first) as their preferred location. For this, they have to mark their options in CLAT 2026 application form. Students are allowed to select up to three CLAT test centres while filling up the application form. The exam centers of CLAT 2026 is allotted to the students on the basis of their preference and the availability of seats. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 will be conducted in around 139 test centres across the country.

  • For CLAT 2025, the consortium arranged 139 test centres across the country.
  • For CLAT 2024, the consortium arranged 127 test centres in 22 states and 2 UTs all over India.
  • For CLAT 2023, the consortium arranged 131 cities across India.

CLAT 2026 Exam Analysis

The CLAT 2026 Exam analysis will be updated here once the exam is over. Until then, students can check CLAT Exam analysis. Students who appeared for the CLAT Exam felt that with many conceptual problems, the logical section was moderately long. The English exam was similarly long but not too hard, with a lot of vocabulary problems. Arithmetic was challenging.

CLAT 2026 Answer Keys

The exam authority will publish the CLAT Answer Key 2026 in two steps. Firstly Provisional Answer Key and then Final Answer Key. Students who appeared for CLAT Exam can download the official CLAT 2026 Answer Key online by visiting the official website; i.e. consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The answer key mentions the correct options against each question asked in the question paper. Moreover, the exam authority will also ask students to verify their responses with answer key, and raise objections in case of discrepancies.

Once the Consortium receives the objections, it will release the final one. Based on this, the result will be announced.

The Consortium of NLUs will release the NLU-wise CLAT 2026 cut-off for both the 5-year integrated and one-year LLM programs after each counseling round. The cut-offs will be category-specific, mentoning the minimum marks of the candidates or ranks required for admission under each category.

CLAT 2026 Counselling

The CLAT 2026 counselling process is completely online, including registration, publishing the merit list, and seat allotment according to candidates' preferences. Candidates can accept, upgrade, or exit their allotted seat in any round of counselling. Once their choice of seat is allotted, they can complete their admission by paying the counselling and admission fee as required.

You don't have to worry. In case you have forgotten your ID and password, which is pretty much normal. You can go and click on the forgot password tab in the registration window. You will receive the mail and then you have to reset your password. Once day you will be able to login.

Yes, the application form for CLAT was released long back in August. Those who have not filled the form yet must understand that there is no right day to fill the form. You should fill is as soon as possible. Because if you miss it you have to wait one more year unnecessarily to appear in the exam.

The last date to submit the application form is October 31, 2025. It must be noted that the consortium will open the application correction window after that. Sometimes the consortium do extend the last date for registration but it is better to fill the form way before and why to wait.

Yes, you can fill out the CLAT Application Form in phases. There is an option to save in every step. However, it will be better if you fill the form in one go. For this, you should keep all the documents ready in hand. See if you fill the form in one go you don't have to worry about it.
