The last date to submit CLAT Application is October 31, 2025.

CLAT 2026 registration and application process closed on, 07-Nov-2025. The CLAT 2026 is scheduled to be held on 07-Dec-2025. Candidates interested in participating in the exam can check details about registration, filling up details, and fee payment. 

CLAT 2026 Application Process

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) closed the CLAT registration window 2026 for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) on 07-Nov-2025. The CLAT 2026 application correction window is also closed. The last date to edit the forms and pay the application fee was 09-Nov-2025. Candidates who already registered for the exam were able to edit the test city preferences and other details, including name, date of birth, reservation category, etc. The law aspirants seeking admission through CLAT 2026 had to fill the CLAT Application Form and pay the registration fee. CLAT 2026 Exam Date is 07-Dec-2025. First-time applicants might face some difficulties in filling up the CLAT application. Candidates must learn how to fill out the application form for CLAT 2026, following the below manner to fill the form.

Manner to fill CLAT 2026 Application Form

Candidates can follow the steps below to fill the application form of CLAT without making any errors:

CLAT Registration

  • Visit the official website of CLAT Consortium - consortiumofnlus.ac.in and a message will appear on the homepage (see in the image below) and candidates have to click on ‘CLICK HERE’ to visit the application window
  • On the left side of the application window, a login form will be given and candidates registering for the first time have to click on ‘Don’t have an account? Register’ button
  • The online registration form of CLAT 2026 will pop-up on the screen and candidates have to provide following details to register:

Name – As mentioned on the academic documents (class 10th certificate or name change certificate if any)

Mobile Number – Candidates have to enter a valid mobile phone number either their own or parents'/ guardian’s

Password – Candidates have to create a secure and strong password that has at least one numerical, one number, one symbol, an uppercase and a lower case alphabet and it should be at least 8 characters long

After this, candidates have to click on the ‘Register’ button and an OTP was sent on the registered mobile number. Candidates have to use this OTP to activate CLAT login account as under:

Candidates have to enter the OTP received on their mobile number to access the CLAT application form.

After this, the account activation window displayed a message as under:

Filling up the application form

Candidates can then use their CLAT login to fill up the application form as under:

Upload photograph and signature – Candidates also have to upload their photograph and signature after they register for CLAT 2026. The photograph have to be front-facing and clear image. Signature have to be a scanned copy, and file format should be jpg/ jpeg only.

Fill up the form – Candidates have to fill the following details in the application form:

  • Enter Applicant Name – as per the class 10+2 certificate
  • Select gender
  • Select Date of Birth in MM/DD/YY format
  • Enter the father’s name
  • Enter the mother’s name
  • Select nationality
  • Select All India Category – General/ OBC/ SC/ ST (If you select the category other than general then, a new field will open up for uploading a supporting document as issued by the competent authority. The document should be in pdf file format and the size should be less than 1.5 MB)
  • Select if belonging to PWD or BPL (Below Poverty Line) category – If yes, then respective documents need to upload in pdf file format and size not more than 1.5 MB)

After this, candidates have to proceed on the next stage as under:

Communication details – Candidates have to enter the communication address related information as under:

  • Correspondence address – present residential address
  • Select state/ UT, District
  • Enter PIN code of your corresponding address
  • Enter Permanent Address – fill the same details as correspondence if the address is same.
  • Enter mobile number and email ID

Qualifying examination details – In this form, the candidates have to provide the following details of their academics:

  • Qualifying examination
  • Board/ University
  • Status of qualifying examination – whether already appeared, appearing or passed
  • Select month of passing the examination
  • Select year of passing
  • Enter the qualifying marks in percentage

Test Centre Preference – Candidates have to select at least three cities from the list of CLAT 2026 test centres in order of preference.

College Preferences – Here at this stage the candidates have to mark the National Law Universities (NLUs) in order of preference. All the 24 NLUs will be listed on this page.

Reservation – Candidates will be able to select the reservation quota available in each NLU in the following manner. Fill in the required details if seeking admission under the reserved category.

Fee payment

After filling up the application form, candidates have to pay the CLAT application fee as under:

  1. Click on green coloured ‘Make Payment’ button available on the dashboard
  2. On clicking this, a pop up will appear as under:

Candidates should note that additional bank charges INR 50 or more will be included in the application fee. After making the application fee payment, the message will appear as under:

'CLAT 2026 application form is complete now and candidates can download the submitted application form from the dashboard.'

Many students feel the AILET exam is a bit tougher than CLAT because it has fewer seats and high competition. The AILET syllabus focuses more on reasoning and legal aptitude. Both tests need good preparation, but AILET 2027 usually has a higher cutoff for AILET colleges under NLU Delhi.
