1. Motivation & staying on track

Many candidates, who have previously appeared for CAT, choose not to take coaching classes again. Such candidates too need to stay motivated and focused on their goal.

So, we strongly just you to find your mojo and stay inspired.

2. Preparation calendar

Aspirants should have a complete preparation plan ready right from the start. The plan should take into account preparing for core subjects, taking sectional tests, focusing on weak zones and attempting and analysing mock tests.

It is crucial to stick to the plan and waver off in between. Working executives need to set aside daily and weekly time to prepare. Candidates who have taken a year off or preparing exclusively for MBA tests need to devote seven to eight hours daily.

What is the best time to start CAT preparation?

3. Online classes

Candidates can opt to attend short-term online classes. Many leading MBA coaching institutes have special online coaching modules. They are also companies focusing exclusively on online test-prep. After a little research, one can select a course that suits a candidate’s requirements the most. Online courses are generally cheaper than regular full time coaching classes. Make sure to read the reviews of the courses online before buying anything.

4. Social network

Social networking sites are fast becoming the grounds of new and authentic preparation material. There are various preparation groups where questions answers are posted regularly. Candidates can also refer to online forums such as Quora for preparation material.

Scored well in CAT, but didn't make it to IIMs. Where did I go wrong?

5. Mock tests

Attempting and analysing mock tests are a crucial aspect of CAT preparation. Every CAT expert or topper will say the same thing – attempt as many mock tests as you can and keep analysing these mock tests. During self-preparation, aspirants must set out time for mocks and their analysis. It should ideally begin about two months before the exam.

6. Analyse

Analyse your performance and strategy at every juncture. How can you do it better? Solving everything accurately is not the way to get the best CAT score. Selecting the right question and solving it quickly using shortcuts and tricks is crucial. So spend time on analysing your performance regularly.
