There are many new B-schools in India which provide new courses in management compared with the traditional MBA course. Hence, it is a good opportunity for you to research for as many colleges as possible and continue consulting with peers rather than forming your own assumptions.
Subramanian shares tips you must follow after you have appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2019
- After you have appeared for the CAT exam and come out of the exam hall, you can see many aspirants discussing the difficulty of the paper and possible answers to the questions. While discussion can sometimes be good but many times it increases our anxiety and makes us feel guilty if our answers don’t match theirs. In my opinion, what has been done in the exam has been done and now definitely is not the time for self-introspection. Although it should be done but not right outside the exam hall.
- You should spend quality time with your friends or with yourself once the exam is completed. Go for a long walk, plug in your earphones and listen to your favourite music. You can spend time with your friends by going to a movie, pub, etc. The point here is to enjoy your time as you have done what needs to be done because worrying about the results will neither increase your score nor will undo the wrong answer right.
- Once you are over the party mood it is time to focus again. Yes, this is the time for a detailed analysis of your score. Many websites post the answer key, which can be helpful for you to evaluate your score. Now, based on the previous cutoff, you can predict your CAT percentile, which may or may not be accurate to the actual results. Nonetheless, it gives you an idea of which colleges you can possibly target.
- Now once you know your estimated score look for colleges that you have aiming for and check for previous years CAT cuff scores for those institutions. Websites like Shiksha.com can be useful as it allows you to compare different MBA colleges based on fee, eligibility, etc. You can consult your friends about which colleges they are applying and get their advice. It is important for you to be updated on the latest applications released by colleges and should not miss out on them. There are many new B-schools in India which provide new courses in management compared with the traditional MBA course. Hence, it is a good opportunity for you to research for as many colleges as possible and continue consulting with peers rather than forming your own assumptions.
After CAT exams such as XAT, MAT follows which have a similar syllabus. Although XAT has GK as well, you should give your best shot for all these exams. In addition to this preparation for the latest Group Discussion and Personal Interview topics by reading newspaper regularly. Keep yourself updated and be confident.
