NBE will conduct the FMGE exam for the December session on January 17, 2026. The exam is conducted to provide a license to practice in India. It is an important exam for Indian and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their medical degrees from foreign institutions and want to practice medicine in India. The students who have completed their medical degrees from outside India need to clear the FMGE Exam. This exam is conducted in two shifts, one in the morning from 9 to 11:30 am and the other in the afternoon from 2 to 4:30 pm.

1. Report on Time at the FMGE Exam Center

It is advised to the students to reach the exam center at least one hour before the exam starts. They can check the reporting time on the admit card. The entry gates will be closed 30 minutes prior to when the exam starts. No students will be allowed inside after this time.

Q:   Will FMGE exam held in offline mode?
A: 

No. FMGE 2025 exam will be held in computer-based mode. Each candidate will be provided a separate desktop at exam centre. Questions will have to be answered on screen. Registrations will be open on official website to submit application form for exam. 

Q:   Do I need to send a hard copy of my documents for verification for FMGE exam?
A: 

No, candidates only have to upload the scanned copies of the required documents with the FMGE 2025 registration form. Physical verification of the documents will be carried out when the candidates report for the collection of Pass Certificates. Pass certificates will be provided to candidates who qualify the exam by scoring the minimum cut off. Candidates have to score at least 50% marks to qualfy for the exam. Candidates are asked to show hard copy of the original documents while distributing the pass certificates.

Q:   How can candidate download entry slip to collect FMGE pass certificate?
A: 

The entry slip can be downloaded from the official website by providing details such as roll number and date of birth. The NBEMS released a notification on the official website which states that students will be able to download their FMGE pass certificate from the official website. Along with it, it will also comprise the time duration during which the FMGE 2025 certificate can be downloaded. 

2. Carry Admit Card, Required Documents

Students should carry these documents -

A printed copy of the FMGE Admit Card with a recent passport-size photograph. It should be the same as uploaded in the application form.

A valid photo ID proof such as:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • Voter ID

3. Biometric Verification and Security Checks

There is biometric verification conducted at the exam centre where the fingerprint and photograph are verified to maintain transparency. This process is mandatory. Students will also go through security checks where they will be asked to remove the accessories such as rings, watches, shoes, and belts during the frisking process.

Q:   What will happen if I reach the FMGE exam centre a bit late?
A: 

Applicants are advised to reach the exam centre on time, they are also advised to check the exam centre 1 day before the exam. Candidates reporting late or after the time mentioned in the admit card shall not be allowed to appear in the exam under any circumstances. 

Hence students are allowed to reach the FMGE 2025 exam centre on time and enter the exam premises within time so that he/she can attempt the exam without any hassle. 

Q:   Can I change my FMGE 2025 exam centre?
A: 

No, the exam centres of FMGE are assigned by the exam conducting authorities after lots of debate & discussions hence one can not make a request to change the exam centre. 

If there is any emergency then applicants can make an attempt of changing exam centre address by sending an email or calling the helpline numbers and tell them about their problem. 

Q:   Has NBE announced dates for FMGE 2025 June session?
A: 

National Board of Examinations released the FMGE 2025 dates on the official website for the June 2025 session. The FMGE June session exam was conducted on July 26, 2025.  The FMGE registration process is organised online. FMGE application forms are submitted online at the official application portal for the June session exam. The registration window is available on the official website, nbe.edu.in. NBE released the application forms for FMGE 2025 on its official website. It must be noted NBE only accepts online application form for the exam.

4. Permissible Items Inside the FMGE 2025 Exam Hall

NBEMS has specified a strict list of items that candidates are allowed to carry inside the examination hall:

  • Admit card and ID proof
  • Transparent water bottle (if allowed)
  • Face mask and small bottle of personal hand sanitizer
  • Electronic devices are not allowed at the exam centre such as mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, or any other gadgets.

After the conclusion of the exam, authorities will release the FMGE results within one month.

The FMGE cutoff is released once the FMGE results are released. Once the FMGE cutoff is out, those who beat the cutoff list will be called for the counselling process. Students must score a minimum of 150 out of 300 to be able to beat the cutoff.

The FMGE exam has 300 MCQs worth 300 marks. Each correct answer gives 1 mark, and there is no negative marking. The exam is divided into two sections, Part A and Part B; each section is of 2 and a half hours. To pass, one must score 150 out of 300.

There is currently no limit on total number of attempts for FMGE. You can appear for as many sessions as needed. Very soon, National Exit Test (NExT) will replace FMGE exam. It may introduce new regulations regarding attempt limits once implemented. As of now, no limit for re-attempts.
