The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will conduct the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2026 online as a Computer-Based Test(CBT) on June 28 nationwide. There will be two papers in the FMGE exam. The candidates will be required to score more than or equal to the minimum qualifying marks in both papers to clear the exam and get the certificate of eligibility.
The FMGE is a non-competitive eligibility exam where the candidates are required to qualify in the exam to become eligible to start medical practice in India. This exam is open to all candidates who have completed their MBBS from outside India.
It is an important exam for Indian and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their medical degrees from foreign institutions and want to practice medicine in India. This exam is conducted in two shifts, one in the morning from 9 to 11:30 am and the other in the afternoon from 2 to 4:30 pm.

1. Report on Time at the FMGE Exam Centre
It is advised to students to reach the exam centre at least one hour before the exam starts. They can check the reporting time on the admit card. The entry gates will be closed 30 minutes prior to when the exam starts. No students will be allowed inside after this time.

There are around 35- 40 thousands student participate in the FMGE exam every year. According to the previous year FMGE result statistics, the number of candidates who qualify and secure the FMGE certificates every session is between 20 - 30 %. Though this data can be changed if the number of applicants or difficulty level of exam changes drastically.
Last year in 2023 a total of 38,355 applicants participate and the FMGE passing percentage was 23%.
2. Carry Admit Card, Required Documents
Students should carry these documents -
A printed copy of the FMGE Admit Card with a recent passport-size photograph. It should be the same as uploaded in the application form.
A valid photo ID proof such as:
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card
- Passport
- Driving License
- Voter ID
3. Biometric Verification and Security Checks
Biometric verification is conducted at the exam centre, where the fingerprint and photograph are verified to maintain transparency. This process is mandatory. Students will also go through security checks where they will be asked to remove accessories such as rings, watches, shoes, and belts during the frisking process.

The NBEMS released a notification on the official website which states that students will be able to download their FMGE pass certificate from the official website. Along with it, it will also comprise the time duration during which the FMGE 2025 certificate can be downloaded.

4. Permissible Items Inside the FMGE 2026 Exam Hall
NBEMS has specified a strict list of items that candidates are allowed to carry inside the examination hall:
- Admit card and ID proof
- Transparent water bottle (if allowed)
- Face mask and small bottle of personal hand sanitiser
- Electronic devices are not allowed at the exam centre, such as mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, or any other gadgets.
After the conclusion of the exam, authorities will release the FMGE results within one month.

Students who are giving the FMGE 2026 exam must follow all exam rules. Students must carry a printed admit card, a valid photo ID like an Aadhaar card or passport, and one passport-size photo. Students should reach the exam centre early to complete checking on time.
Do not bring mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, or Bluetooth devices. Bags, books, notes, and food are not allowed in the exam hall. Students must follow the instructions given by the exam staff to avoid any problems.
