NTA NEET cutoff is minimum marks to qualify in the entrance test. Students who obtain more than the NEET cutoff 2026 will qualify the National Eligibility cuum Entrance Test (NEET).
In 2025, NEET cutoff for General category was 686 – 144, while in 2024 it was 720-162. NTA NEET cutoff 2026 for General or UR category is expected to range 680-140. The NEET UG exam carries 720 scores. There are 180 questions compositely from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The exam has negative marking for wrong answers. One mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
The NEET question paper consists of 180 compulsory questions. Candidates need to attempt these 180 questions in a duration of 3 hours or 180 minutes. The questions are objective-type MCQs.
The 80/20 rule in NEET is applible in case when candidates have limited time to study for the exam. The rule implies rather than covering the entire syllabus, candidates should focus on 20% of the high-value topics that are likely to form about 80% of the NEET question paper.

It is possible to get admission to a private medical college with a score of 300 in NEET. For a government medical college, one should ideally obtain a score above 600. The NEET cutoff for the Government medical colleges varies as per the institute rank and round of counselling. Currently, NEET is not required for most physiotherapy admissions. Most colleges admit students based on Class 12 marks. However, from 2026 onwards, NEET is expected to become mandatory as per the NCAHP notification. Students applying from 2026 onwards should keep NEET preparation as a priority.

No, Punjabi University, Patiala are not decided based on NEET-UG score. Punjabi University, Patiala has only mentioned accepting scores of its ownin-house entrance exam to select candidates for BPharm courses.
Thus, candidates with a valid NEET-UG score will still need to appear in this entrance exam
