Candidates can check the list of changes introduced in NEET PG counselling 2026 below.
NEET PG Counselling 2026: Freeze and Float
This is one of the best changes students will witness this year. Free and Float options will help them to submit their willingness against the seat allotted to them. Earlier, candidates had to report to the allotted institute and then they were able to opt for upgradation. Let's understand these two options: Freeze and Float.
What is Freeze Option?
Candidates who are satisfied with the seat allotted and do not want to upgrade can choose Freeze. These candidates will have to report to the allotted institute for joining. They will have to carry the required documents with them.
What is Float Option?
Candidates who want to upgrade from Round 1 to Round 2, or from Round 2 to Round 3, can choose this option. They will have to submit their willingness after the release of NEET PG seat allotment.
Document Submission
Candidates who have selected Freeze or Float options will have to upload documents online through the portal provided by MCC. The documents must be uploaded before the deadline. Candidates will be allowed to resolve the queries / discrepancy raised by institutes.
NEET PG Counselling 2026: NRI Quota Process Online
New changes have been introduced for NEET PG NRI quota counselling in 2026. NRI students can now upload documents online for verification. Earlier, they had to email their documents to MCC before each round of counselling.
- Process for NRI Document Submission, Verification, and Conversion of Category:
- Candidates will have to select NRI Quota and sub-category at the time of registration.
- They will have to upload supporting documents for category conversion from Indian to NRI.
- NRI Document Verification Committee (DVC) of MCC will verify the submitted documents.
- SMS and email alerts will be sent to candidates regarding discrepancies.
- Candidates will be allowed to make necessary corrections.
- The converted candidates will be eligible for the NRI choice filling.
- Candidates are allowed to participate in Round 2 if they are unable to produce the documents in Round 1.
PwD Medical Assessment Board Expanded
MCC has expanded the PwD medical assessment board. The assessment board has been increased to 65 from 16 boards. Moreover, appellate boards have been included.
