IIT Madras and Samsung R&D Noida Partner to Advance AI Research in Indian Languages, HealthTech, and Generative AI
IIT Madras and Samsung R&D Institute, Noida have signed a MoU to collaborate on research in Artificial Intelligence, with a focus on Indian languages, healthcare technologies, and generative AI.
IIT Madras: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has partnered with Samsung R&D Institute, Noida (SRI-N) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen industry-academia collaboration aimed at advancing research, accelerating technology development, and nurturing future-ready talent. This strategic alliance will focus on cutting-edge innovations in AI for Indian languages, HealthTech, and emerging domains like Generative AI, reinforcing Samsung’s commitment to building a robust innovation ecosystem aligned with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives.
This strategic partnership between Samsung India and IIT Madras further strengthens SRI-Noida’s expanding network of academic collaborations, which already includes long-term MoUs with premier institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, and IIT Ropar. Together, Samsung and these institutes are shaping a comprehensive roadmap toward a smarter, more connected future. By blending industry-scale resources with academic excellence, these collaborations are fostering a vibrant ecosystem primed for breakthrough innovations.
The five-year MoU that was signed by Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director, SRI-N and Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, aims to provide a wide range of collaborative activities, including sponsored research projects, consultancy projects, technology licensing, training, facility development and sponsorship of student fellowships in future.

Our collaboration with IIT Madras marks an important step towards co-creating solutions that are meaningful, inclusive, and future-ready. Together, we aim to enhance the Galaxy AI ecosystem with deeper integration of Indian regional languages and contribute to breaking language barriers across the country,” said Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director, Samsung R&D Institute, Noida.
