Some of the historical facts of Jamia Islamia University Delhi are listed below:
- JMI Millia New Delhi was established in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh on October 29, 1920. This was made possible due to the demands of Mahatma Gandhi and Aligarh Muslim University students to create a separate Muslim institution without British influence.
- JMI University Delhi moved from Aligarh to Karol Bagh, New Delhi, in 1925. From there, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi campus shifted to the new establishment at Jamia Nagar, Delhi.
- Jamia Millia Islamia finally received the status of a 'Central University' by an act of the Parliament in 1988.
Jamia Milia Islamia’s Mission: The mission values of Jamia New Delhi is to inculcate nationalistic and secularistic values in its students. This helps promote integral development and the brotherhood of citizens in nation-building. Many prominent names in the Nationalist Movement were behind the establishment of Jamia Milia Islamia. This includes, along with Mahatma Gandhi, names like Mahmud Hasan, Zakir Hussain, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, as well as several relations of independence activists.

Jamia Milia Islamia releases the CUET merit list instead of CUET cutoff list. Candidates who will be shortlisted can check their names on the merit list when released. JMI releases the CUET merit list soon after the declaration of CUET results.
