The JMI delegation briefed the Education Minister on key university developments, including the successful launch of a postgraduate program in Dentistry

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has pledged comprehensive support for the establishment of a medical college at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), reinforcing the university’s vision to expand its academic offerings. The assurance came during a meeting with JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi today in New Delhi.

The JMI delegation briefed the Minister on key university developments, including the successful launch of a postgraduate program in Dentistry, made possible through substantial financial backing from the Education Ministry. They expressed gratitude for Shri Pradhan’s continued encouragement in bolstering the Faculty of Dentistry.

The delegation also highlighted the stellar performance of JMI’s Residential Coaching Academy, which annually sees over 30 students clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination, joining elite services like IAS, IPS, IRS, and Indian Forest Service.

Discussions also covered the university’s financial health and ongoing developmental projects under the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA). The Vice Chancellor raised concerns about the slow progress of these initiatives, seeking the Minister’s intervention.

Proposals for new academic departments were presented, with the medical college proposal receiving enthusiastic support from Pradhan, who assured all possible assistance to make it a reality.

The meeting also touched on preparations for JMI’s upcoming Convocation, with discussions on potential chief guests and a request for the Minister’s guidance. Pradhan commended JMI’s progress, reaffirmed his commitment to its initiatives, and promised a visit to the university soon to experience its vibrant academic environment firsthand.
