SRM Institute of Science and Technology BTech Highlights 2026
SRM BTech course is offered for a duration of four years in full-time mode. The course is available across multiple specialisations, including Computer Science and Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. For some of the BTech courses, direct admission is available. More highlights of this course can be found below:
- Selection criteria: Candidates will be selected during SRM IST Kattankulathur BTech admission based on SRMJEEE. However, candidates can also apply through JEE Main or SAT scores as well. A following counselling round is also part of the selection process.
- Eligibility: SRM IST Kattankulathur BTech eligibility criteria is to pass Class 12 board exams with a minimum aggregate of 60%, with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. Aside from these two subjects, one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics, Botany and Zoology must also be part of the Class 12th stream. Candidates who apply for BTech courses from the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Genetic Engineering or Department of Biomedical Engineering are eligible for admission even without having Mathematics in Class 12th. However, a four-credit subject of Mathematics will be part of their BTech curriculum.
- Lateral entry: BTech (Post completion of Diploma) course is also available at this University. The application process for this course is valid for students with work experience and for those who do not have any experience. However, to select the flexible timing mode of study, a minimum of one year of experience is mandatory. The application fee for this is INR 1,400.
- Fees: SRM University BTech fees for the regular four-year programme range between NR 11 lakh for branches like Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc., to INR 19 lakh for specialisations, including CSE and Artificial Intelligence, among others. For BTech (post-completion of diploma) with flexible timing, the one-year tuition fee is INR 1 lakh, while for regular BTech without flexible timing, the fee is INR 2.75 lakh per year.
- Placements: As per the placement report released by the University, the highest package offered for the BTech branch of Computational Technology, Data Science and Business Systems was INR 41.2 LPA for Aerospace Engineering; it was INR 38.5 LPA.
- Scholarships: The University provides multiple scholarship schemes to its students. For BTech, a 100% scholarship is available on tuition fees based on SRMJEEE Rank 1-100 (spread across all phases). Based on IIT JEE (Mains) rank up to 2000, a 100% scholarship will be provided on tuition fees. These scholarships will be given at the time of admission.

BTech admission at SRM IST Kattankulathur is either based on candidates’ performance in the university-level SRMJEEE entrance exam or based on eligible national-level entrance exams, such as JEE Main and SAT. The online application is for admission to B.Tech programmes offered in SRM IST Chennai (Kattankulathur, Vadapalani, Ramapuram, Tiruchirappalli and Delhi - NCR Campus - Ghaziabad (UP), SRM University - Sonepat, Haryana and SRM University, Andhra Pradesh - Andhra Pradesh.
