VIT Vellore BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025
VIT Vellore BTech is a full-time course offered across over 20 specialisations. Furthermore, the deemed-to-be-university offers sub-specialisations under Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical and Electronics & Communication as well. One of the BTech specialisations, namely Computer Science and Engineering- Business Systems is offered in collaboration with TCS.
Candidates' selection to VIT Vellore BTech courses is done based on merit in the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE). This entrance exam is conducted by VIT for admission to BTech courses offered at its different campuses. The candidates shortlisted based on exam scores have to participate in the counselling round for seat allotment. Students can read the VITEEE brochure 2025 to understand more about the exam.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates should have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% (50% aggregate for SC/ST/applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North-Eastern states) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination (Class 12 or equivalent) from a recognised board. Candidates also need to fulfil the below-given criteria:
- Applicant must be a resident/ non-resident Indian National/ PIO
- Candidates having Mathematics/Physics/ Chemistry in Class 12 only are eligible for all the BTech
- Candidates need to pass Class 12 with Physics/Chemistry/Biology and English for admission to BTech Biotechnology, CSE Bioinformatics and ECE Biomedical Engineering.
NOTE: Candidates with their date of birth falling on or after July 01, 2000, are eligible to apply for UG Engineering admission (UGEA) 2022.

After the document verification and selection, aspirants must pay some VIT Vellore BTech fees for admission confirmation. The total tuition fee for VIT Vellore BTech ranges between INR 4.9 lakh and 7.8 lakh. The total course fee, includes a caution deposit of INR 3,000 as well. The fee will vary as per the specialisation selected by the candidates. The VIT BTech admission cycle commences with the release of the VITEEE application form in November. The VITEEE exam is then conducted in April. VIT Vellore BTech admissions are based on candidates' performance in the in-house VITEEE entrance exam. Candidates must follow the step-wise admission procedure for a smooth admission. The VIT BTech course admission process is as follows:

Students may look below for a breakdown on the VITEEE BTech online application process:
- Open the college official website (https://vit.ac.in/).
- Click on the 'Admission' tab and further click on 'UG Programmes'.
- Hover to the required course and click on 'Apply Now'.
- Register with valid login credentials, including email ID and mobile number.
- Fill out the remaining application form with other required details.
- Pay the application/exam fee of INR 1,350 (non-refundable) using a debit card/ credit card/ net banking.

2. Appear for the Entrance Exam
After the form is filled out, the applicants need to appear for VITEEE. The computer-based test is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology, hence, the exam schedule is published on its official website. There is no other provision for admission to BTech courses offered by VITs.
3. Result Declaration & Counselling
Further, the VITEEE Result is announced online and candidates can check their rank and selection status. Soon after the result declaration, online counselling is released by the deemed-to-be-university. During this round, students need to select their course wishlist. After the choice filling, provisional admission letters are sent out to eligible students following which document verification is done for admission.

Yes, admission to BTech course is based on VITEEE score. Hence, only students with a valid exam score get a seat in this course. VITEEE is a computer-based test conducted for a duration of 2 hour 30 minutes. The paper, includes five sections, namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Aptitude and English and, includes a total of 125 questions. The difficulty level of the VITEEE exam is moderate compared to other national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
Students, who prepare for JEE Main exam usually, find it easier to crack VITEEE, as this exam does not have any negative marking. However, the syllabus of the VITEEE exam varies every year. The shortlisted aspirants are called for counselling and document verification. Aspirants need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the institute.
VIT Vellore tuition fee for a four-year BTech range between INR 4.9 Lacs and INR 7.8 lakh as per official sources. VIT Vellore campus life is almost the same as any other college in North India as per the various reviews of the college students online. The authorities will not release the VITEEE 2025 cutoff online at vit.ac.in. However, if it is released, then the candidates will be able to access it here. VITEEE cutoff 2025 will be prepared to help in the counselling and allotment process. The authorities will consider various factors while preparing the VITEEE cutoff, such as the previous years' cutoff trend, difficulty level of exam, the number of applicants and more. If the candidates meet the cutoff, then they will not guaranteed admissions, however, they will have higher chances of admission.
For course completion, the candidates have to earn the required credits. The institute has divided the credits among different category of subjects. Yes, BTech is offered by Vellore Institute of Technology at its Vellore campus. It is a flagship programme of the institute. As per the latest 2025 VITEEE Brochure, the institute is offering four-year BTech across 20+ specialisations. For admission, the candidates must meet the eligibility requirements and pass the selection rounds. The selection is done based on VITEEE rank/score. This entrance test is conducted by the institute. The eligible studenta can apply via online mode through VIT official website.
No. Offline payment will not be accepted for the VITEEE 2026 application fee. To make the payment, the candidates will have to use the online method i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. No other mode of payment will be accepted by the authorities. If the candidates fail to make the payment before the final date, then their application will not be accepted and they will not be allowed to participate in the entrance exam.

Yes, the placement cell of VIT Vellore support students in grabbing international internship opportunities. The students becomes eligible for placements and internship programmes in their fifth semester. As per the VIT official website, the placement centre place an average of 10 students every year in top MNCs.
