B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2026
3.6
The infrastructure and facilities are excellent, strict regarding outing and other rules.
Placements: Most students are placed in IT companies, while few land positions in core companies; many opt for higher studies. All students without backlogs secured internships through the college. Companies like Honeywell visit frequently, and students secure positions in companies such as Yamaha, Maruti Suzuki, Accenture, Kia, Nokia, PwC, Deloitte, Hero, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available from 6 am to 12:30 am. Rooms and washrooms are clean in most hostel blocks; a few blocks have badminton grounds. Most classrooms are satisfactory, and the library is excellent. Not all mess facilities are good; some are poor, while a few are decent.
Faculty: All teachers are qualified, but many lack teaching skills. Some professors fail to provide any study material, such as PowerPoint presentations. The course curriculum is relevant but lacks alignment with industry standards. Exams are relatively easy to pass based on performance, as grading may make it easier or harder to pass depending on the paper's difficulty. For instance, a tough paper might make passing easier, while an easy paper might require a higher passing criteria. A minimum of 40% in finals is needed to pass the course.

Importance of pursuing higher studies after B.Tech in Chemical engineering.
Placements: Both me and my dad had done extensive research on this course at VIT. Chemical engineering isn't well developed in India, and as such, only 40–50% of students perusing chemical engineering get placed. Now, this percent does not include core companies; some of them get placed in consulting companies too. The rest of the students pursue higher studies abroad if they are not doing an MBA. The average package would be around 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: The girls hostel is top-notch, if not one of the best in the country. Vellore being a hot city, the AC is always running in the rooms, and mess food is great too. VIT is a big and beautiful campus and the infrastructure is phenomenal.
Faculty: In VIT, the academic structure extends way beyond just end-of-semester exams, incorporating a comprehensive evaluation system with CAT1 and CAT2. Complementing this academic rigour, VIT recognizes the importance of holistic development and employability skills; hence, the institute mandates a soft skill course (STS).

Good college and the faculty members are good.
Placements: In our Branch, there are about 125 students. We didn't get any core company job offers for the senior who passed out this year as per my seniors' knowledge. I am expecting around 5-6 Lacs package for my CGPA. Top roles in many industries are chemical engineers.
Infrastructure: Actually, I am a day scholar, but I know a little about hostel facilities. The hostel room infrastructure is based on the fee you pay for it. The higher you pay you get luxury hostel. There is both air conditioned and normal rooms. And the mess is best part of VIT because it gives you various option to choose.
Faculty: The teachers are knowledgeable but the knowledge teacher is higher priority in the FFCS. The curriculum is relevant as many faculty members give the application-oriented problems and they take for industrial visits. The CAT 1 is closed book which is easy, and the CAT 2 is open book we can use our notebook and text for the exam.
Other: VIT conducts many events. Not only the authority conducts the events even the club members can do the event. We have RIVERA Gravitas and many events.

Good quality of education in VIT.
Placements: The placements are very good for CSE and IT. The average placement for other branches is comparatively lower. The average package is 6-8 LPA, but students from all the branches can sit for mass IT placements. The internship opportunities provided are very good here.
Infrastructure: VIT has one of the best infrastructures. The Wi-Fi is slow but manageable, labs are well-equipped, library is vast, hostels are well maintained and food is a matter of perspective, but overall it's good. The college provides a lot of student chapters and clubs that students actively run.
Faculty: Teachers and really good. VIT follows fully flexible credit system, so you can choose you own teachers every semester, there are 2 CAT exams, internal assignments and projects, quizzes and then the final FAT exam as semester end exam. Consistent efforts are needed throughout the semester.
Other: VIT provides quality education. It provides good opportunities to learn and enhance our skills. The curriculum is updated in every few years.

Very satisfied with college, placement and the overall experience.
Placements: 70-80% of students are placed with about 40-45% of total students placed in core companies. The highest package was 7.5 LPA, whereas the lowest was 3.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Honeywell, Ecolab, Tata chemicals, Reliance Industries. Internship is only offered by Ecolab to only 4-5 candidates as per my knowledge. Top roles are Process engineers, production engineers, project engineers, TPM engineers etc.
Infrastructure: All the facilities were excellent. College is investing more and more every year on the new and best quality infrastructure of labs, equipments, classrooms as well as the hostels. The medical facilities and extracurricular facilities are there for students.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful and highly qualified. Most of the faculty members have industrial experience and help prepare interested students in the same. All of them are very good in research and are always ready to support any student interested in research in the relevant field.
Other: I choose the course because I always had an interest in working in the field and this will help me in this. Most of the people think chemical engineering is about chemicals but it is not, chemicals are only a part of it and the course really gives you a better understanding of that. Extracurricular, chapters, events, fests are available for chemical engineers on campus as well as on the other campus. Faculty members and University support the interested students in participating in the fest which are being held at other college campuses. Scholarship, campus, crowd, everything is same as it is for any other student in any other course.

Our college is strict, but it is completely worth it.
Placements: About 80% of the students from our course got placed. The top recruiting company for our course was Honeywell. About 80% of the students got internships from our course in all sorts of companies ranging from IT to core chemical companies. Top roles offered in our course are petroleum engineer, safety engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The quality of the hostel facilities provided here was very good among the best colleges in the whole country. There were many sports facilities, both indoor games and outdoor sports throughout the campus. The quality of the food served in the mess was top-notch, and there was a central medical facility, along with an ambulance.
Faculty: Though the teachers are really strict and put a lot of pressure on students some times, they are well qualified to teach complex subjects of this course. We were provided with plenty of industrial visits during our 4 years of the course, along with a mandatory industrial internship.
Other: Our college organises two massive fests every year. Among them, one is technological fest named Gravitas, while the other one is a college fest named River. Both these festivals are top-notch where people from all over the country and from different countries attend them.

Good placements overall. Very good placements for circuit based and coding branches.
Placements: Graduate trainee engineers role offered in placements. Most of the students planned for higher education. MS and MBA were chosen by most students. People got selected in various institutions which are top 100 in the world. US and Canada was the top choice of most students.
Infrastructure: Very good infrastructures. Good classroom, well-equipped air conditioned labs. Hostel rooms are spacious and well ventilated. AC facility is there in hostels. Variety of mess options are there for students. Library has a large collection of books. E-Library is also available.
Faculty: The, curriculum is apt. Furthermore FFCS that is fully flexible credit system enabled us to plan our own time table and choose our own faculty members. That was very convenient when it came to choosing faculty members as there are some not-so-good faculty members in all colleges.
Other: Fees was high. Expenses were more. Travelling everytime by flight costed a lot.

College transforms students and makes them ready for the world.
Placements: Almost all people were placed in my course. The highest salary package offered was 12 LPA, the lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA, and the average salary package offered was around 4.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Honeywell UOP, Dr Reddys Labs, Vedanta, PQE Italy for core and others were IT services, and analytics companies visited the campus. The top role offered is technical trainee, graduate engineer trainee. The internship has to be self-sourced and is a compulsory requirement only honey well hired few students from campus.
Infrastructure: State-of-the-art infrastructure is the key feature of VIT. Most of the facilities are much better than the NITs and other colleges. Sports facilities are very good, and although for indoor courts of squash, badminton tennis is provided for students. Food is of a pretty high standard, and a very wide menu variety is offered at a subsidised price.
Faculty: Some teachers are very good, and some are not. Research-based learning is highly encouraged. The course curriculum is relevant, and there are several project-based learning courses which are evaluated on the practical applications of the concepts taught. Even the examinations are an open book.
Other: I have chosen this course because chemical engineering offers a wide range of industries exposure and entrance. It gives you the basics of every major industry in the world. The course should be made better known to students that there is very little chemistry in it. Events and fests conducted are one of the best in the country, and a huge number of opportunities are provided for students.
