IIT Kharagpur BTech Courses & Fees 2025: Selection, Placement, Admission Dates, How to Apply

IIT Kharagpur BTech course admission is a multi-step process that students are required to follow to get into the institute. Starting with the application, students are required to go through the course-specific entrance exams, followed by other selection rounds (if applicable). The institute accepts a valid score in JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced.

Step 1: IIT Kharagpur BTech Application Process 2025

To apply for BTech courses, students are required to apply via JEE Main. The process of application for JEE Main consists of three steps: registration, form filling & document uploading followed by payment of application fees. Follow the below steps to fill out the JEE Main application form:

Step 1: Open the official website (jeemain.nta.nic.in) and click on the ‘Registration for JEE (Main)’ link.

Step 2: Fill out the registration form with the required information followed by clicking on the 'Submit' button.

Step 3: Fill out the detailed application form and upload scanned images and documents.

Step 4: Pay the application fees. The category-wise application fee for JEE Main is mentioned in the following table:

Step 5: The application form is automatically submitted after the successful payment of application fees.

Documents required to fill JEE Main 2025 application form

Before the JEE Main registration process, students must keep the following documents and information ready for a smooth application process:

• Valid email ID and mobile number
• Academic details related to the Class 10 and Class 12 qualifying exams
• Scanned copy of category certificate (if applicable)
• Scanned copy of PwD Certificate (if applicable)
• Scanned photograph and signature as per the specification mentioned by the NTA
• Net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI details for application fee payment

Step 2: Selection Criteria & Release of Merit List

Once the exam results are announced, the counselling body releases the cutoff list. Candidates who meet the set JEE Advanced cutoff for IITKGP have to participate in the JoSAA counselling for the final seat allotment.

Step 3: Admission Confirmation

Once all the counselling rounds are over, candidates who are offered seats must report to the institute for confirmation of admission. To confirm admission, students are required to submit various academic documents for verification purposes. Upon successful verification, students must pay the fee as prescribed by the institute.

IITKGP BTech scholarships are offered based on merit and need. Under the Merit-cum-Means scholarship, the institute supports meritorious students by providing them financial aid. As per the scholarship policy, 25% of the students admitted each year to the undergraduate courses are offered financial aid.

Fresh entrant students should have obtained at least 60% marks in aggregate or a grade corresponding to 60% marks in the qualifying examination for JEE Advanced. For subsequent renewals, the student’s performance in the two consecutive semesters of the preceding session, i.e., GPA, as updated after the supplementary/summer quarter examination, must not be lower than 7.
