The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is an important exam for students who want to join the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programs at top design colleges in India. For the 2026-2027 academic year, only students who qualify for UCEED 2026 can apply for admission to B.Des programs at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur. There are currently seven participating institutes of UCEED 2026 that offer a combined intake of 245 seats to the B.Des program. The participating institutes are IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIT Indore. Admission to the B.Des program was conducted through a UCEED Joint Admission Process, with the allotment of seats to be done based on UCEED 2026 merit rank.
It may be noted that a participating institute has the right to make any changes to the seat matrix. IIT Bombay released the updated seat matrix for UCEED 2026 on its admission portal - uceed.iitb.ac.in. So, the candidates are urged to keep looking for any new updates. UCEED will start its Counselling process from April 21, 2026. The UCEED 2026 Counselling will be conducted in five rounds.
UCEED Scorecard 2026 was available from March 10, 2026 onwards. Email ID and password are required to download the UCEED Scorecard.

Seat Allotment Process Overview
UCEED 2026 will conduct five rounds of seat allotment. Seats are provisionally allocated based on the candidate's All India Rank (AIR) in UCEED 2026, their category, and their preferred institutes. Selected candidates will receive provisional allotment letters via their registered email addresses. Upon receiving the allotment letter, candidates must remit a Seat Acceptance Fee of ₹60,000 for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL categories and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD categories through the provided online payment system.

UCEED 2026 Seat Allotment (FINAL Round): Do's and Don'ts
- Candidates who are allotted a seat for the first time in the final round have to directly pay the UCEED seat acceptance fee to the institute where they are offered provisional admission.
- Candidates who have paid the seat acceptance fee have to contact their respective institutes concerning the balance fee payment and registration process.
- There will be no further rounds of seat allocation, and hence there is NO option to withdraw an accepted/allotted seat.
- It will be the responsibility of the candidate to provide the correct and complete information regarding the qualifying exam and category and upload the correct documents in the required formats in the application form. Application forms that are incorrect and/or incomplete in any way will be summarily rejected, and the application will be considered invalid. The admitting institutes will conduct a document verification exercise for each candidate during admission. The admitting institutes have the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of a candidate per their rules and regulations in practice if it is found that any information provided by the candidate is incorrect or the application is incomplete.
- Candidates may note that the offer of admission made to them during the online seat allocation process is provisional and will be confirmed by the admitting institutes only after the requisite fees are paid, the documents are duly verified, and their formalities are completed. Once the counselling is closed, the entire process of BDes admissions through the UCEED office is considered to be over, and no further changes (viz. changing institute etc.) are permitted.

UCEED 2026 Participating Institutes - Admission Process
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Des program at UCEED 2026 participating colleges need to qualify in the exam and must be assigned a merit rank. The UCEED 2026 exam was conducted on January 18, 2026 (9 am - 12 noon). The UCEED 2026 question paper will have two parts - Part A and Part B. Part B answer booklets will be evaluated only if the candidate meets the UCEED 2026 cut-off marks for Part A.
Also, all candidates who meet the cut-off marks will be assigned a merit rank and will be eligible to participate in UCEED 2026 counselling. UCEED 2026 results are declared on the official website and shortlisted or merit-list candidates will have to register for counselling. Application to BDes Programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur (Participating Institutes) began from March 14, 2026 (Saturday), 10:00 Hrs. The application portal was closed on April 10, 2026 (Friday), 5:30 PM. The candidate had to register and fill in their choice of participating institutes in order of priority. The allotment of seats will be based on the UCEED 2026 merit rank of the candidate and the college option selected.
UCEED 2026 Result-sharing Institutes
The result-sharing institutes of UCEED 2026 will not participate in the Joint Admission Process. Instead, they will conduct their counselling at the institute level. The counselling application for the result-sharing institutes will open soon after the UCEED 2026 results are declared. The participating institute will only fill some of the UG seats based on UCEED 2026 scores. However, for the remaining seats, they may use scores from other entrance exams.
