The National Testing Agency (NTA) converts the raw marks of the candidates into a percentile score. Based on the percentile marks, JEE Main ranks are decided. Therefore, the candidates must understand how the NTA calculates JEE Main percentile. The formula to calculate the percentile score depends on various factors.

What does a score of 110 in the JEE Main exam mean? Is it sufficient for admission to a top NIT and a reputable engineering branch? Additionally, what will the JEE Main 2026 percentile be for 110 marks? Find the answers below.

The percentile in JEE Mains exam is also called NTA score. Check how NTA calculates JEE Main percentile below:

Calculation of raw score

  • Total raw marks out of 300 are calculated for candidates in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • The raw score is determined using the marking scheme: +4 for each correct answer, 0 for unattempted questions, and -1 for each wrong answer.

Raw score converted to percentile score

  • Once the raw scores are calculated, NTA converts the raw scores of all three subjects and the total raw score into a percentile using the formula below:

Final percentile:

With the results of JEE Main session 2, NTA releases the final percentile and ranks of the candidates. The final percentile is the best score of the candidates out of both the January and April exam attempts. However, keep in mind that NTA will not release the raw scores with the JEE Main result 2026, only the percentile marks in all three subjects and in aggregate will be available.
