How to calculate JEE Main 2026 Percentile from Marks out of 300?

To calculate JEE Main percentile 2026 from your marks out of 300, you would need the following details:

  1. Your score in the exam out of 300
  2. Number of candidates who have scored less than or equal to you in your shift
  3. Total number of candidates who have appeared in your shift

Only the first data is readily available. However, the rest of the two data sets are hardly available. Therefore, the calculation of the exact percentile score becomes very difficult.

NTA uses the following formula to calculate the NTA score (percentile score) from the raw marks of the candidates:

The raw scores of the candidates are converted into a percentile score or NTA score in each subject. The total marks out of 300 are also converted to a percentile score using the formulas below:

The final percentile score of JEE Mains and the ranks are based on the best performance of the candidates out of both attempts of the exam.

Is 40 Marks a Safe Score in JEE Mains 2026?

For a leading NIT, achieving 40 marks in the JEE Main 2026 out of a total of 300 cannot be deemed safe, particularly for a candidate belonging to the general category. Scoring 40 marks in the NTA JEE Main would likely result in a rank of about 3,85,000. This rank is considered quite low for gaining admission to any prestigious NIT, IIIT, or GFTI. Nonetheless, some of the newer NITs might be an option for candidates. Please refer to the information below:
