Is 240 a Good Score in JEE Mains 2026?

240 marks in JEE Mains corresponds to a 99.5 to 99.9 percentile. Therefore, 240 is considered an excellent score in JEE Main 2026. Candidates with these marks are expected to get a JEE Main rank between 5000 and 11000. In JEE Main, results are declared in percentiles, while admission is done based on rank. The All India Rank is calculated from the percentile and not from the raw marks. Therefore, the candidates must know the relation between marks, ranks and percentiles. Candidates with this score definitely qualify for JoSAA counselling and will also be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. With a score of 240, candidates can aim for top NITs, IIITs and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.

JEE Main marks Expected percentile Expected ranks
240 - 280+ 99.9+ 1 - 1,200
