 Important Points to Remember While Filling the GATE 2026 Online Form

Q:   Can I get direct admission to BTech at NIT Trichy?
A:

No, NIT Trichy does not provide direct admission for BTech. NIT Trichy BTech admission is entrance-based. The institute accepts admission to the BTech course through a valid score of JEE Main. Every aspirant needs to qualify for the exam in order to get admission. Selected candidates further need to take part in JoSAA counselling as well. There is no other procedure for admission.

Q:   How can I get admission in IIT Bombay with JEE?
A:

Candidates wishing to get into BTech course of IIT Bombay have to qualify for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. The selected candidates based on JEE score are allotted seat through JoSAA Counselling. Candidates who have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible to apply for JEE Main. BTech course aspirants have to apply through JEE Main by filling out an application form through the National Testing Agency (NTA) official website (nta.ac.in). The application fee for boys is INR 1,000 and INR 800 for girls (general/gen-EWS/OBC (NCL) category). Followed by JEE Main, students have to register for JEE Advanced. For this, candidates have to first login with their JEE Main 2023 application number and password. Further, candidates have to fill out the registration form, upload scanned certificates, and pay the application fee. 

Q:   Can I get direct admission to IIIT Delhi?
A:

IIIT Delhi admit candidates to a few courses without any entrance examination. For example, the institute admits candidates to the BTech CSSS programme based on their performance in Class 12 or an equivalent examination. Moreover, for PG Diploma in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, aspirants who meet the eligibility criteria are only required to take part in an interview round. For any more details, students can contact the IIIT Delhi admission office.

The registrations for the GATE 2026 exam will be activated on August 25, providing access to the GOAPS portal. Candidates must consider a few things when filling out the GATE 2026 application form

  • Before applying for the GATE, candidates must check their internet connectivity. 
  • Candidates must check the GATE 2026 eligibility criteria before filling out the form.
  • Before filling out the GATE form, they must prepare all the documents and information. 
  • The information provided must be authentic and meet the requirements of the GATE authorities. 
  • Candidates must keep their GATE 2026 enrollment ID and password safe, as they will be required to perform other GATE activities.

 How to Fill the GATE 2026 Application Form Through the GOAPS Portal?

The GOAPS portal is an online interface created to offer a seamless experience to candidates applying for the GATE 2026. Through the GOAPS portal, candidates can register, view, and download their application form, admit card, GATE 2026 application form status, results, scorecard, and more. 

The step-by-step process to fill out the GATE 2026 registration form is as follows -

  • Visit the official website of GATE - gate2026.iitg.ac.in and click on the GOAPS portal.
  • Click on the new candidate registration and enter the required details, such as name, e-mail address, contact number, etc.
  • Once registration is complete, applicants will receive a GATE 2026 Enrollment ID to get login access to the GOAPS portal and an OTP to confirm. 
  • Now, log in using the Enrollment ID and password and complete the rest of the application form. 
  • After entering all the required details, upload the documents as per the specifications. 
  • Candidates can pay the application fees through net banking/debit card/credit card/UPI. International visas and master cards are also accepted for the GATE 2026 fee payment. 
  • Confirm the declaration and submit the application form. Keep a copy for future reference. 
Q:   How can I apply for M.Des at IIT Delhi?
A:

To apply for IIT Delhi M.Des course, candidates need to visit the official website of IITD. On its homepage, click on ‘ Admissions’. From the drop-down menu that appears, click on ‘ Announcements’. Fill up the application form and hit the 'submit' button to complete the process. Candidates seeking admission are then required to appear for the CEED entrance test.

Q:   How to apply for IIT Delhi after GATE?
A:

Candidates who meet the course-specific eligibility criteria and have a valid GATE score can apply. Aspirants can complete the application form through the IIT Delhi official website. This is for M.Tech full-time programmes. For part-time/sponsored full-time courses, eligible candidates can register directly at the official website. Admission to part-time M.Tech is based on a written exam and interview round conducted by the institute.

Q:   How can I get admission in IIT Mumbai?
A:

IIT Bombay admission to all the courses is entrance-based (Except for EMBA, where admission is merit-based and performance in the interview round). The IIT Bombay admission process includes the application process, selection round, cutoff, merit list or counselling and other steps. For BTech, candidates have to clear JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Further for other courses such as MTech, MBA, MSc, BDes, and MDes, aspirants need to clear GATE, CAT, IITJAM, UCEED, and CEED, respectively to qualify for further admission rounds.

Candidates need to keep the following documents ready while filling out the GATE form 2026 for MTech and PhD admissions -

  • High-quality scanned image of the candidate's photograph (as per the specifications)
  • High-quality scanned image of the candidate's signature (as per the specifications)
  • Scanned category certificate (optional) in PDF format
  • Scanned copy of the PwD certificate (optional) in PDF format.
  • Scanned copy of Dyslexic certificate (optional) in PDF format.
  • Scanned copy of a valid ID proof (Aadhar card/Voter ID/PAN card/Passport/Driving License). Candidates must carry the same ID proof to the exam hall.

The conducting authority, IIT Guwahati, has revised the GATE application form 2026 fees. Candidates applying for the GATE 2026 exam must pay the application fee to confirm their application. Candidates can check the GATE 2026 application fees below -

GATE 2026 Application Form Status

Candidates can check their GATE application form status after submitting their application form. The form status will indicate the status of their GATE application form. To check the GATE 2026 application form status, follow the steps below -

  • Visit the official website and navigate to the GOAPS portal.
  • Enter your enrollment ID/application number and password and submit.
  • The application status will be displayed on the screen.
  • If the applicant’s form is under scrutiny, personal instructions regarding the discrepancy will be sent to the candidate’s registered email ID. Candidates will be allowed to make necessary changes within the stipulated time. 

GATE is a national entrance examination offering M.Tech and PhD admissions in various disciplines, such as engineering, science, technology, architecture, arts, and humanities. The GATE 2026 exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.

No, a duplicate GATE 2026 admit card will not be provided at the test center. Candidates must carry their own admit card along with the mentioned documents and items to the GATE exam center. IIT Guwahati will release the GATE admit card on January 2.

Yes, candidates will get a scribble pad in the GATE exam 2026 to do the rough work. Candidates have to write their name and registration number on the scribble pad before using it. However, the rough sheet must be returned after the completion of the exam.

Candidates who are appearing for the GATE exam must carry a valid ID proof along with a passport-size photograph, transperant water bottle, and pen (blue or black) along with GATE 2026 hall ticket. We advise to carry atleast two to three copies of admit card to the centre.
