GATE 2022 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates aspiring for GATE must meet all the eligibility conditions before filling the application form. Students can check the eligibility criteria for GATE 2022 below:
Educational Qualification: Candidates, applying for GATE 2022, must fulfil all the below-mentioned required eligibility conditions. Students who are studying in the third year of any of the following undergraduate degrees are eligible to appear for GATE 2022.
- BE/BTech
- BPharma
- BArch
- BSc (Research)/BS
- Professional Society Examination (equivalent to BE/BTech/BArch)
- MSc/MA/MCA or equivalent
- Integrated ME/MTech
- Integrated MSc/Integrated BS-MS
- Integrated ME/MTech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2)
Pass Percentage: No minimum pass percentage is required to apply for GATE 2022.
Age Limit: There is no age limit defined to apply for the GATE exam.
Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
GATE Eligibility Criteria for International Students: Candidates belonging to Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are also eligible to apply for GATE 2022.
Steps to Fill GATE 2022 Application Form
Students can check the steps for successful submission of the GATE application form below:
Step-1: GATE Registration
All aspirants must register on the GOAPS website first before filling the GATE Application Form. Check the key points to register for the exam below:
Enter your personal details such as Name, Email Address, country of residence, mobile number
Create your Password. It should be unique and 8-15 characters long.
Enter the Captcha and click on the "Submit" button.
If all the details are correct, an SMS and an email will be sent to your mobile number and email address respectively.
GOAPS Enrollment ID: After successful registration, a GOAPS Enrollment ID will be generated. It will be sent to students through the mail. The ID will be required to submit the GATE 2022 application Form, pay the fee, download the GATE admit card, check the results and download the scorecard.
Step-2: Filling GATE 2022 Application Form
After successful registration, students must complete the application form by filling in all the essential details. Check the information in this regard below:
- Enter the Enrollment ID and Password to log in to the GOAPS website.
- Select the GATE 2022 Paper you wish to appear in. Select your examination country and subsequently choose three choices of GATE 2022 exam Cities.
- While choosing the exam cities, the first two choices must be of the same GATE zone and the third one can be from any sector.
- All applicants must verify their email address and mobile number to get all the notifications related to the exam.
- Enter your personal details like Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Category etc. Also, add your Correspondence Address for future correspondence.
- Students are required to fill in the details of their qualifying degree i.e. Name and discipline of the Qualifying degree, Name of college/ university, Passing year, etc.
Step-3: Uploading Documents to Complete GATE Application

Step-4: Payment of GATE Application Fee 2022

- GATE application fee is different for Indian and International candidates
- The payment can be made via net banking facility/credit card or debit card only.
- GATE Application Fee is neither refundable nor transferable

GATE Application Form Status 2022
After the payment of the fee, GATE 2022 application form will be with the exam conducting authority “Under Scrutiny”. Candidates must not worry if the application is showing this status. This is to help students to rectify any error in the photo/signature/supporting documents. Candidates will be contacted through email and SMS for any changes in the application form. The scrutiny process will continue even after the application portal is closed.
GATE Application Form Correction
Candidates can change the details in their GATE 2022 application form during the period mentioned under the dates’ section in the article above. An additional fee is applicable for changing the details in the application form through the GATE Correction window. The following details can be edited before paying the application fee:
- Communication Address, Graduation Details, Date of Birth, Gender and Category
- Photograph and signature if they have not uploaded the high-quality images.
- The correct document defining the category status.
- The rectification of selection of the wrong status of qualifying examination along with its correct document can be submitted.
- The changes that cannot be made in the submitted GATE Application Form 2022:
- The E-mail Id mentioned by the candidate
- Contact Number is given by the candidate
- Paper for attending GATE 2022
As the above-mentioned details cannot be edited, in case a mistake is made, you have to apply again for GATE 2020 with a new E-mail ID and Phone Number. It must be noted that the previous application fee shall not be refunded.
