NO, it is compulsory to attempt all questions in the JEE Main exam. The JEE Main exam has negative marking and candidates must answer only those questions for which they know the correct answer. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in JEE Main that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.
Questions in the JEE Main exam are of two types
Multiple choice questions - Each question will have 4 options with only 1 correct answer. Candidates have to select the correct answer out of the 4 available options.
Numerical Ability Question - In these type of questions, no options are provided. Candidates have to solve the question and write its answer using keyword and mouse. Answer to these questions will be a numerical value.

It is advised that students should solve at least previous 10 year question papers of JEE Main. As per the current JEE Main pattern, the Paper 1 exam have a total of 75 questions, 25 each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.
