MET 2026 Eligibility Criteria: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has released MET eligibility criteria at manipal.edu. Candidates should check official MET eligibility criteria 2026 carefully before registration. It is important to know eligibility required for admissions through MET 2026 exam. If candidates are not eligible, then their admission will be cancelled. What is the General MET Eligibility Criteria?

Candidates can check general eligibility criteria for MET admission below. Official eligibility criteria have been released online by MAHE authorities.

  • Nationality: All candidates should be of Indian nationality. However, there are seats reserved for foreign nationals, candidates with NRI status, candidates sponsored by NRI relatives, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO).
  • Age Limit: There is no age limit. However, candidates should meet general eligibility criteria.
  • Academic Qualification: Should have passed 12th class qualifying exam (or equivalent) exam or appearing in 2026 from a recognized board.

MET Eligibility Criteria: Academic Qualifications

Some detailed academic qualifications that candidates need to meet for MET admission are given below.

  • Should have passed 10+2th qualifying (or equivalent) exam with Physics, Chemistry and English as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/any technical subject as optional.
  • Minimum 50% marks should have been scored together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.
  • Technical vocational subject should be related to Chemical/Civil/Computer/Electrical/Mechanical streams.

MET 2026 Eligibility Criteria: International Boards

Candidates applying from international boards such as IB and IGCSE, etc, will have to meet following criteria.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Certificate

University of Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Levels/Edexcel GCE ‘A’ Levels/British Examining Bodies

  • Should have studied English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science or any technical vocational subject as optional (preferably Mathematics and Physics at HL level).
  • IB diploma or certificate with a minimum average of 5 points for Physics, Mathematics, and any optional subject with an overall minimum of 24 points.
  • Minimum points required in a subject are 3 or above.
  • Minimum 3 subjects in HL (Higher Level) and 3 subjects in SL (Standard Level).
  • Minimum two Science subjects in HL.
  • Candidates should have studied Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science or any technical vocational subject as optional in ‘A’ levels
  • Should have studied English at ‘AS’ level or minimum 5 passes at IGCSE/GSE or GCE ‘O’ level examinations including English
  • Minimum required grade is an average of ‘D’ grade in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.
Q:   Are other exam scores considered for MET admissions?
A:

The authorities do not consider any other exam score for MET admissions. All students will have to attempt and qualify the MET exam to be eligible for admission into the participating campuses. However, the basic 12th standard qualifying exam mark eligibility has to be met.

Q:   What is the 12th standard marks required to be eligible for MET?
A:

As per MET eligibility criteria, students should have atleast 50 percent marks in 12th class examination. Students should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and one optional subject.

Q:   If both MET exam sessions are attempted, which score will be considered for admission?
A:

If students attempt both MET exam sessions, then best score out of two will be considered for admission. Students are eligible to attempt one or both sessions of examination. If needed, a third session may also be conducted.

Is there domicile criteria for MET admission?

Since MET is a private engineering entrance examination, there is no domicile criteria for admissions. However, candidates have to meet basic and academic eligibility to secure a seat in participating campuses. They should also check nationality criteria for MET admissions.

MET 2026 Application Form Process

MET registration link 2026 is available online. To be registered for exam, candidates will have to submit form before last date. While filling application form, they will have to provide required information, upload documents and pay fee. Preferred exam cities also have to be selected. Candidates are eligible to apply for both phases of MET exam.

Q:   Will MET be held as an online test?

MET will be conducted as an online test. Students will have to report to exam centres. MET will be held in available systems at exam centre. Offline exam will not be held.

Q:   Who is the conducting authority of MET?
A:

The conducting authority of MET is the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). The information about the entrance exam will be officially announced by the MAHE authorities. Students have to stay updated with the announcements made at the official website.

Q:   Can I change my allotted MET exam centre?
A:

No. Students will not be able to change their allotted MET exam centre. Therefore, the students are advised to be careful while selecting their choice of exam cities during the application form filling process. Centres are allotted as per the preference.

Admissions are not guaranteed to students if MET cutoff is met. Since other factors are also involved in allotment, just meeting cutoff may not be enough. However, it will give them higher chances of admission into their preferences.
