GATE is conducted every year by different Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) which test core subjects of your branch or field, engineering Math and your verbal ability. It is conducted every year in February. In this article, we will discuss the preparation strategy and tips for GATE in Mechanical branch.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the most important exams for engineering students. This exam is considered most important because of the scope and benefits provided by it, including jobs in the public sector undertakings (PSUs), obtaining admission in M.Tech programmes in top engineering institutes.

Preparation strategy
One of the most important strategies to prepare good enough for scoring well is that you need to work out and analyse your strengths and weaknesses in all your branch subjects. This can be done effectively by keeping the syllabus with you and then writing the topics or subjects in which you are good and thorough. By this, you will get the idea of your standing in GATE and after making your strategy accordingly by considering the weightage and syllabus.

Overall strategy to crack GATE 2022
- Give more and more test series as possible and analyse your mistakes in it.
- Try to avoid those mistakes by making or learning possible solutions.
- Practice more questions from topics you are strong at.
- Try to solve previous years’ papers.
- Go through the important topics and make your strategy according to your strong and weak areas.
- Analyse the exam pattern and sample paper.
- Revise your strong topics, effectively and try to do zero mistakes in it.
- Make a handy book containing each and every important formula for every topic for last-minute revision.
- Try to give a mock on the time period of the exam which can make you more effective at that particular time period.
- Practise time management.
- Stay motivated and target your dream score and rank.
- Make sure you set time allocation. For branch-specific topics, invest at least four hours. For general aptitude and engineering math, one hour a day is enough.
