Mandarin Chinese is the second most spoken language in the world and one of the six languages used in the United Nations, Mandarin Chinese language has earned a greater status in the World. Mandarin Chinese language is spoken across northern and southwestern China. The Chinese language has over a billion native speakers and is by far the largest of the seven Chinese dialect groups. This is attributed to people who have travelled from North China, compared to the mountainous South. Other than the language, Mandarin Chinese has four tones such as the Beijing dialect which is spoken in many parts of China.
The Chinese hieroglyphic originated from carapace-bone-script and has more than 3,000 years of history. Put together, there are about 80,000 Chinese words which originated from ancient times, however, only 3,000 words are used in daily use. The character is of two types – Simplified and Traditional.
In order to study Chinese Mandarin, the language is recognised as an academic discipline and is taught by various Universities and Colleges in India. Students can opt to take up full-time courses in Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and research programmes as well. There are renowned varsities which teach Mandarin Chinese as a discipline. On learning a language and successfully completing a programme, students can get job opportunities in China and abroad as well.

The candidate should have done their MA/MPhil in Chinese from a recognised University and should have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate. |
Certificate in Chinese |
6-Months/1-Year |
The candidate should have done their Class 12 from a recognised Board and should have secured a minimum of 45% aggregate. |

Mandarin Chinese Admission Process
Chose University/College: The first step is to search for colleges or universities which are offering courses in Mandarin Chinese. Check the fees, the seats offered, eligibility criteria which are set for the course.
Apply for Course: Proceed to apply for admission after getting to know the university offering the programme. Fill up the details as required and pay the application fee. The application forms are available for a limited period of time so the candidate is advised to know the details way in advance.
Mode of Admission: Universities and Colleges will either conduct entrance exams for admission or offer admission through merit. For postgraduate courses, the candidate will have to appear for an entrance exam.
Results: Selected and qualified candidates make the merit list. The student has to get the desired rank and percentage, to be eligible for admission.
Counselling: The candidate will have to appear for the counselling session conducted at the university to book their seat, submit their documents and pay the fees to seal admission.
