Q:   What should I do to learn Japanese language?
A:

Learning Kana (Hiragana and Katakana) is an excellent first step and can be very rewarding when simple Japanese phrases and writing especially in pop culture suddenly become readable. But I know how this will pan out. Finding a Hiragana/Katakana chart on Google and then trying to memorize the characters purely from rote and practice-and it will be frustrating, and neither effective nor enjoyable.

In my early days of Japanese language mania back in middle and high school, I attempted to learn kana from these charts on at least 4 different occasions over 4-to 5 years; but despite Samurai-style pain and perseverance, I never succeeded beyond being able to write them on demand-I could never recognize them quickly enough for practical use. I only became a fairly effective Japanese speaker and writer after 2-3 years of incredibly intensive college-level study and a short stint in Japan.

Q:   How do I apply for Japanese language test?
A:

To apply for a Japanese language test you have to follow some of the steps: Step 1: Register with my JLPT

Step 2: Acquire a JLPT ID

Step 3: login and fill the application form

Step 4: Pay test fee

Q:   Can you suggest a university for Japanese language course?
A:

For learners of the Japanese language, every year, the Japanese language proficiency test (JLPT) is conducted twice a year in July and December. The levels range from n5-n1. N5 being the most basic, and n1 being the most advanced. To gain proficiency in the Japanese language, you can learn Japanese from these places in Delhi. The Japan Foundation: affiliated with the Japanese embassy in India, the Japan Foundation is a library and a centre where you can start learning Japanese. You can get books, manga, CDs as well. It is located near the Moolchand metro station. A 2-minute walk from there. Delhi University (part-time): if you are looking for a certificate or diploma degree, then you can learn it as a part-time course from Delhi University. Forms for this would be out when Du announces the cut-off. You need to have cleared your 12th class. Delhi University (full-time): that is if you have already graduated, you can enrol in a full-time course at DU. Department of east Asian studies. It's a two-year course. An intensive PG Diploma will be equivalent to graduation and you can do a Masters afterwards. Jawaharlal Nehru University: if you want to do your graduation, JNU is also considered one of the best places to learn the Japanese language. However, entrance exams are most probably over for this year. Coaching institutes: institutes like Mosai, Nihongo Centre, Nihonkai, and Aots are where you can learn the language. Personally, though, it's good to learn from a university (be it DU or JNU) but coaching institutes also do have some merit. Coaching institutes are more JLPT focused whereas DU/JNU are more into academics. You can see your priorities and enrol in any of the above. Hope, it helped. All the best.
