A student of Faculty of Law, Delhi University, Swati Verma has bagged AIR 2 in CLAT PG 2017 exam with a total score of 121.5/150 marks. Currently, pursuing LLM, Swati has completed her LLB from Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad. On being asked if she expected to be the topper of CLAT 2017, Swati said, “I wanted to be the topper of CLAT 2017 and so I put my best efforts in achieving the same.”
A resident of Moradabad, Swati loves drawing in her free time. Swati’s father, Vinod Kumar Verma is a businessman in the textile sphere. Her mother is a homemaker. However, the person who motivated her to choose law as her career is her uncle (tau ji) who is an advocate. Apart from her uncle, her brother is also an advocate in Delhi High Court. Also, her sister is pursuing LLM from Indian Law Institute, New Delhi.

When we asked Swati what preparation strategy she adopted to crack the prestigious law entrance exam, she shared, “I went through the syllabus of CLAT LLM entrance thrice. I focused on bare acts and legal concepts and while preparing for the exam maintained consistency and regularity in studies. Apart from that, I laid emphasis on group discussions and solved many MCQs.”
Swati also added that she never took any coaching for CLAT exam. Regarding the same she said, “I didn't take any coaching. But I am fortunate as I got constant guidance from my uncle (chacha ji) who is Additional Public Prosecutor and aunt (chachi ji) who is Additional District Judge, and my brother.”
Talking about how she dealt with her weaknesses and strengths at the time of CLAT preparation, Swati shared, “I always follow three Ds – Determination, Dedication, and Devotion. These three Ds have always made me give my best in anything. However, whenever I lose hope I talk to my brother who always motivates and supports me. Besides, I am also thankful to my parents who support me in all ways.”
In her near future, Swati is not planning to appear for any other law entrance exam. However, she revealed that in the past she had appeared for DU LLM entrance exam in which she secured Rank 14. Also, she is currently, awaiting her result for UP Judiciary Mains examination. According to Swati, “In future, I just want to do my best in legal field and enjoy my life.”

No. Since IIULER has officially joined the Consortium of NLUs, it no longer conducts a separate entrance test for admission to IIULER BA LLB (Hons.) course. Admission is strictly based on the CLAT (UG) merit list. If you miss the CLAT window, you generally cannot apply for that academic year.
