SNAP 2020 is expected to be conducted in the second week of December by Symbiosis International (Deemed) University. Those preparing to appear in SNAP 2020 must know that it comprises Normal Questions and Special Questions which are unique to the exam. Special Questions were introduced in SNAP in 2018. The question paper that year had 130 questions out of which 20 were Special Questions. However, in 2019, there were only 5 special questions that too only in the Quantitative section only. As per the revised SNAP exam pattern, General English and Analytical & Logical Reasoning sections did not have Special Questions.
In SNAP 2020, there will be no Special Questions, but the aspirants must ignore Special Questions as they are nothing different but Type in the Answer questions or non-MCQs that are asked in other MBA entrance exams too. To help the aspirants in this regard, Shiksha has put together a few key tips. Read below.

How to Tackle Special Questions of SNAP 2020?
Time Management is the Key
Since Special Questions are non-MCQs and answer options are not provided, candidates might need to invest more time in answering them. Candidates are advised to manage their time well. Answering the Special Questions accurately can help in improving overall SNAP score as each Special Question carries 2 marks. While attempting SNAP mock tests, make sure you improve your time management skills – this will prepare you better for the exam day.
Do not apply 'Theory of Elimination' in Special Questions
While attempting MCQs, candidates can use the ‘Theory of Elimination’ where the question is solved to an extent and the option that seems closest to the answer is selected. However, this theory cannot be applied to Special Questions. Since no answer options will be provided, candidates will have to solve the entire question and provide their answer using a virtual keyboard. Make sure you solve the non-MCQs properly and do not just blindly guess the answer.
Focus on Accuracy
SNAP carries negative marking for incorrect answers (25%). Thus, the candidates must be very careful while answering. It must be noted that marks will be deducted for incorrect answers of both Normal Questions and Special Questions. Since no answer option will be provided for Special Questions, these must be attempted very carefully as filling the wrong answer will lead to deduction of marks. Ensure a good number of accurate attempts. Also, in case you are not sure of the answer, it is better not to attempt it rather than providing an incorrect answer.
Solve Special Questions in the End
Since solving non-MCQs can be time consuming, it is advisable to keep them for the end. Quickly answer the MCQs and then move on to the non-MCQs. Investing a lot of time in solving the non-MCQs at the start of the paper might lead to leaving out on MCQs.
Keep the above mentioned points in mind and tackle the Special Questions carefully and calmly during SNAP 2020 exam.

SNAP candidates are not required to apply separately for all SIU campuses. They can select colleges in the SNAP application form. However, they need to fill the PI-shortlist form separately for whichever colleges they get shortlisted.

Between SNAP and NMAT, the former is considered easier in terms of difficulty level of the questions. However, SNAP is of 60 minutes in which candidates have to address 60 question. This makes SNAP more challenging than NMAT which is a test of longer duration (2 hours having 108 questions).

Usually it is recommended that Arun Sharma series (Verbal, Quant, DI), R.S. Aggarwal's Reasoning/Quant books, and Word Power Made Easy, are enough for SNAP preparation. Sample questions papers, mock tests, sectional test series are also important.

Two months may not be enough to prepare for SNAP exam, if you are attempting it for the first time. However, you can try with a very specific and focussed plan. Check SNAP question papers of previous years to know dominant subjects. Study only those thoroughly and practice mock tests side by side.
