The main aspects of SNAP preparation are syllabus coverage and practicing sample papers/mock tests. Six months will be enough for both. SNAP registration 2024 will begin in August 2024. Read on to know how to prepare for SNAP 2024 in 6 months.

Q:   Which is the toughest section of SNAP exam?
A:

None of the sections of SNAP exam is tough However, if one compares between the three, the Analytical & Logical Reasoning section of SNAP exam is usually tougher than General English and Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency sections. Unlike other MBA entrance exams, where Quantitative Aptitude and English are tough, in SNAP only reasoning questions are tough.

The SNAP Analytical & Logical Reasoning has more questions than General English and Quantitative Ability sections, and most of the questions are not so easy to understand. It has 25 questions and about 18-19 questions are usually doable. Last year in the SNAP exam, the Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency section was tougher than the Analytical & Logical Reasoning. So, candidates must prepare for SNAP exam in such a way that they can handle questions from any section irrespective of their difficulty level.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of SNAP question paper?
A:

SNAP is one of the few MBA entrance exams which is easy in terms of difficulty level. It is much easier The number of questions, as well as the exam duration are less that than other MBA entrance exams. The type of questions asked in SNAP as also pretty straightforward.

Moreover, SNAP exam is held thrice for candidates to repeat attempts, which allows candidates to improve their score if they want to. The SNAP syllabus is same as other MBA entrance exam and there are no questions on Reading Comprehension or Data Sufficiency. This makes the SNAP exam much easier to crack than other exams.

Since 2020, the exam is conducted for only 60 minutes and the total number of questions asked is also 60. The first section of SNAP question paper is General English, the second section is Analytical & Logical Reasoning and the third section is Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency.

Q:   I am a fresher. Which SNAP book should I refer to for Quantitative Aptitude preparation?
A:

Freshers should start Quantitative Aptitude preparation with NCERT Mathematics books of Class 9 and 10 for getting fundamental understanding of the topics and concepts. Once they have grasped the concepts of Algebra, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Geometry and other topics of Arithmetic, then move on to books with advanced level of Quantitative Aptitude topics. Arun Sharma’s books on preparation for Quantitative Aptitude (also VARC and DILR books) are highly recommended as they are exhaustive and contain test papers of various difficulty levels. With the help of Arun Sharma books, you can understand the concepts and learn application to different type of Mathematical problems. In addition to that, you should refer to other Quant books and sample papers.

For SNAP 2024 exam preparation, first of all, go through the SNAP exam pattern, syllabus and marking scheme. This will give you an idea about what you know and what you don’t. Once, that is done, look for SNAP study material and books for preparation. Also download MBA preparation apps and join online study groups.

Q:   How to avoid negative marking in SNAP?
A:

There is negative marking scheme in SNAP Test. For each wrong answer 0.25 marks is deducted. Thus, the candidates must choose the questions to attempt carefully. If they find a question tough or have a doubt about the right answer, they should leave it. The total time duration for SNAP is 60 minutes so candidates need to keep in mind the time limit as well while choosing a question or spending time on it. They should not spend too much time on a questions. If they are unable to solve it, they should leave it and move on. There is no negative marking for unattempted questions in SNAP exam. If a candidate will leave a question unsolved, they will be marked 0 on that. So, in case one is not sure of the correct answer, they should not select any option. Stay away from negative marking as it will affect your overall score.

Q:   Should I take coaching for SNAP preparation?
A:

Yes, coaching is recommended for preparation for any competitive exam as the candidate gets best of aid such as books, study material and mentors. However, the candidates must join coaching if only they can follow the rigorous time-table and daily classes.

About six to eight hours daily is considered good enough duration for SNAP preparation. However, if you start exam preparation late (by October) then you need to devote 10-12 hours daily. SNAP is easy and if you are preparing for other MBA entrance exams, you may not need to work too hard on it. A good number of sample papers and mock tests will be good enough.

  • Some of the most recommended books include:
  • How to Prepare for Data Interpretation for CAT
  • How to Prepare for Logical Reasoning for the CAT by Arun Sharma
  • High School English Grammar & Composition by Wren & Martin
Q:   I am preparing for CAT exam. Do I need to prepare for SNAP exam separately?
A:

Those preparing for both CAT and SNAP exam need not prepare separately. CAT and SNAP syllabus are the same so one can prepare for both from the same study material.  However, since the exam pattern and difficulty level of both exams are different from each other, candidates need to devote a good amount of time on exam specific preparation. They must practice SNAP mock tests to understand the test pattern, topic-wise weightage, types of questions and difficulty level of the questions. The biggest difference between SNAP and CAT is the type of questions, so you need to practice sample question for SNAP to know how and what to prepare for it. You also need to know the sectional composition of SNAP, which is different from CAT. SNAP is easier than CAT so a mix of tough and moderate level SNAP sample questions and mock tests will be adequate for preparation.

Q:   What is a good score in SNAP?
A:

A good attempt of around 80 per cent of questions with 85-90 per cent accuracy is considered good score in SNAP. The SNAP exam has 60 questions only, so the number of attempts considered good are 40-45. Candidates must aim to solve a good number of questions in every section of SNAP, so that their overall score is good and they have a better chance of getting selected for admission. If you do not clear the SNAP cut off may not be eligible for admission to MBA programmers offered by SIU institutes. Meeting the minimum cut off is a mandatory requirement to be eligible for the Group Exercise (GE), Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT). Thus, when preparing for SNAP, keep in mind a target score. The SNAP cut offs are lower for Reserved category candidates.

Q:   How to avoid common mistakes in SNAP?
A:
Below are the few tips to avoid mistakes in SNAP: - Don't get stuck: If you feel the problem is taking time, then leave and move to next. There is no point in wasting time in something which you don't know or which is taking time. It’s better to attempt 2 simpler questions than to crack a difficult one. - Enter with open mind: Our suggestion is not to get biased or limit you in attempting the number of questions. You may or may not attempt all the questions in all the sections, given the time constraint or for fear of getting penalty for wrong answer. - Be punctual: It is very much necessary to be on time at the test venue to avoid any sort of panic. Be cool and keep confidence while appearing.

SNAP Marking Scheme

How to prepare for SNAP 2024 in 6 months: Strategy for July-August-September

Start your SNAP 2024 preparation by working on the basic concepts of Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation. Use these three months to study the concepts and theories of all the topics listed under SNAP syllabus. Start with the subject you are weak at. Take notes, watch videos, read secondary material to clear your concepts. Memorise all the formulae and theorems.

There is no Reading Comprehension in SNAP anymore, so it is relatively easier to prepare for English now. Focus on grammar and vocabulary. These two will help you sail through Fill in the blanks, idioms, antonym-synonym, one-word substitution, para jumble, sentence correction and odd word out.

Our advice: Make a weekly plan subject-wise and follow it with 100 per cent dedication.

How to prepare for SNAP 2024 in 2 months: Strategy for October-November

Dedicate these two months to practicing previous year SNAP question papers, sample papers and mock tests. Since SNAP is a speed based test, practicing mock tests is of utmost importance as it helps the candidates in developing speed and accuracy in solving the questions. While SNAP question papers will help you in understanding  the pattern and types of questions asked in the exam, weightage of topics and marking scheme; the SNAP sample paper will provide an exposure of variety of questions asked in SNAP exam. SNAP mock tests will help you to familiarize yourself with the online exam system as well as improve speed and accuracy.

But don’t forget to measure your performance after each SNAP mock test. The purpose of practicing mock tests and sample papers is to improve your performance in each topic included in the SNAP syllabus. Also, don’t get disheartened if you don’t do well in mock tests initially. Keep working towards it, you will start scoring well.

SNAP authorities also conduct mock tests for registered candidates in these months. You should definitely take one official SNAP mock test to understand the test form, exam structure and pattern and get familiar with online test environment before the actual exam.

Our advice: Don’t start with SNAP sample papers and mock tests until you have completed the SNAP syllabus.

How to prepare for SNAP 2024 in the Last Month

In the last one month before the exam, you'll need to improve upon all that you've studied before. So go through all the concepts, definitions, theorems and formulae. Keep aside 2-4 hours for revision each day and attempt one or two mock tests (not more than that). Go through tricks and shortcuts you can apply to solve questions accurately without having to spend time on calculation.

Our advice: Last few days before any exam are crucial. Keep calm and stay positive.
