IIM Calcutta Interview Questions with Answers
As I mentioned in my hobbies, that I like singing, the panel asked me to sing a song. As my first question, I asked their preferred language of song among English, Hindi, and Bengali. They chuckled and said any one is fine. I performed a Rabindra Sangeet for them.
The interview panellists asked me whether I read books or not, and if I do, what kind of books do I prefer. We had a lengthy discussion about what books I liked. I mentioned that I have been preferring to read non-fiction books lately, especially productivity-related books. One of the panellists asked why don’t I read novels /poetry? I explained how I used to read those back in college life. Followed by some discussion on my favourite books.
One of the panellists asked me how far I live from Joka and what all public transport options are available from your hometown to Joka. Additionally, they also asked me what criteria I use when deciding which transport option to choose. I was able to answer this line of questions easily as since my home is quite far from Kolkata and I have always travelled via public transport since childhood. I was able to discuss some of the key factors going behind those decisions. Panellists pushed me to come up with some more factors. However, they didn't grill too much.
I was asked about my preference among IIM A, B, and C. Additionally I was asked, why I would prefer a particular institute. I answered this question with complete honesty. So I explained that if I get calls from A and C, I would be considering IIM Ahmedabad. The reason behind preferring IIM A was that I did not have much inclination towards finance, something which C is specifically known for. However, I also mentioned that during the course of an MBA, my specialisation preference might change. Additionally, I mentioned that IIM A has a more diverse batch and curriculum, so I would have a better learning scope. If I got into IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta, my choice would be Calcutta, they did not ask for my reasons here.
Verdict: Converted
