NMAT 2018 test window commenced on October 4 and will continue till December 17. You can still apply for the exam with late fee.
The difficulty level of NMAT depends from slot to slot. According to experts, the overall test or exam experience has remained pretty much similar in the last few years. As a result, one can approach the exam with pre-planned strategies and well-formulated approach. The idea is to maximise the score as much as possible.
We decided to speak to Tarun Malik, former MBA product head at Career Launcher. Tarun offered three crucial tips to NMAT 2018 test-takers along with helping us understand the NMAT by GMAC exam pattern. Here’s what he said:
Explore popular MBA colleges for you
Tip 1: Play by your strengths
Choose the order of sections you are most comfortable with. For example, if you are not sure about getting a good score in Language Skills in 22 min, leave this section for later. The first attempt the section you are best at. This will give you confidence and make you more comfortable with the speed game that is NMAT.
Tip 2: Fine-tune your strategy for each section
You should begin by attempting as many FIBs as possible as these type of questions can be solved quickly. Then you can move on to other less time-consuming questions like Cloze Test, synonyms/antonyms, analogies and sentence correction. The choice of vocabulary that comes in this exam could be daunting. Para Jumbles should be your next target—especially the four-sentence ones. Once you have a comfortable attempt under your belt, move on to Reading Comprehensions (RCs). The passages are 300-400 words in length and some are definitely on the tougher side. Most questions in RC are based on specific details. It might help to read the questions first and look for details to eliminate the options. Also, attempt tone/style questions as these do not take a lot of time. The important thing to remember is not to agonize over questions, trust your instincts, proceed by elimination, and mark the remaining questions at random. About 20-23 questions are a good attempt in this section.
Tip 3: Ending game
Once you are through with the paper, you should make sure that you mark the remaining questions randomly. This is a must because there is no negative marking in NMAT and you should take full advantage of this fact. However, you must at the same time read the instructions carefully because the paper can include negative marking at any point of time.
A great score in NMAT by GMAC can help you secure a seat in any of the top institutes accepting the exam score. Below listed are a few institutes accepting NMAT by GMAC scores:

Based on test-taker feedback, the NMAT exam is moderate to tough. It focuses heavily on speed, accuracy, and basic conceptual understanding. Almost all candidates find the NMAT exam easier than CAT, and its difficulty is comparable to SNAP
