NEET 2024 Not to be Held Outside India (Revised)
NTA conducted the NEET UG exam in international cities since 2021. In 2023, NEET was conducted in 14 international cities across continents. But this year, NTA announced that it will not conduct the exam outside India. However, as per the notice dated February 20, the exam will be conducted in 14 cities abroad, same as last year. The NEET exam centres will be located in 554 cities in India and 14 in abroad.
There will be bonus marking or extra marks awarded to NEET candidates only if there is a discrepancy in the NEET answer key. Clarifying the same, NTA has stated:
1. If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
2. If all options are found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
3. If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped then all candidates who have appeared will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.
Yes, the NEET 2025 exam pattern was changed. NTA announced the change in the exam pattern on January 25, 2025, to enable candidates prepare accordingly. The optional questions were removed. Instead of 200 questions, there were 180 questions. The total duration of NEET 2025 was reduced from 200 minutes to 180 minutes or three hours now.
The NEET analysis is prepared based on the student reactions and reviews by experts. While the student reactions may vary from one to another as each student has a different perspective, the expert review is a more credible source of NEET analysis.
The difficulty level of NEET may vary for candidates, based on their preparation level. Based on the expertise and experience, the NEET analysis by experts will provide a more in-depth overview of the exam for each subject, topics, syllabus coverage and weightage. Expert analysis for NEET will also act as a basis of preparation for aspirants planning to appear for the exam next year.
However, student reactions give a first-hand impression of the exam which cannot be ruled out. It gives a glance to the NEET question paper and the personal feedback of candidates. NEET analysis by student reactions help evaluate the overall performance of candidates and the expected cutoff.
Candidates who have already registered will be given the facility to change the exam city to their chosen foreign city during the application correction window. They have to pay the requisite application fee during this period.
NTA states, “Candidates registering afresh from foreign countries can select their preferred country and city directly from the drop-down menu during the application process. They should pay the requisite fee and submit their application.”

The change in the NEET syllabus did not come across as a surprise since the National Medical Commission (NMC) and later the National Testing Agency (NTA) had released the latest NEET 2024 syllabus PDF. On the other hand, a few topics have been added in each subject.
Till last year, the NEET UG syllabus was segregated into Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus. NEET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The NEET eligibility criteria have been changed in terms of the subjects studied and the Schooling background. Till last year, only those candidates who studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects were considered eligible for NEET. This year, those who have studied these subjects as additional papers are also eligible in appearing for NEET 2024.
Moreover, candidates who have passed or appeared for Class 12 or equivalent board exam from National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS) are also eligible for NEET 2024. Explaining this, NTA has stated, “The provisions of the regulations disqualifying recognized Open School Board candidates and the candidates who have studied Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject has been struck down. The Medical Council of India has preferred Special Leave Petitions before the Hon’ble Supreme Court and Appeals in the Hon’ble High Courts.
Therefore, the candidature of candidates in the NEET (UG) - 2024 who have passed the qualifying examinations i.e. Class 12 from National Institute of Open Schooling or State Open Schools or as private candidates from recognized State Boards; or with Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject shall be allowed but subject to the outcome of Special Leave Petitions/Appeals filed by the Medical Council of India).”
Amid these changes, the NEET exam pattern has remained the same, which brings a relief among candidates. NEET 2024 will be conducted on May 5, 2024, from 2 PM to 5.20 PM. The last date of submitting the NEET 2024 application form is March 9, 2024. Approximately 20 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam.
