NEET Application Form 2026 (Last Date Over): Around 26 lakh Candidates Registered for NEET UG

How many students registered for NEET 2026? is the most asked query as the exam registrations are over now. According to the sources, approximately 26 lakh candidates have applied for the exam. The NTA will soon publish the official data regarding the NEET registration number. NEET is the largest medical entrance test in India. Every year there is a significant rise in the number of NEET aspirants. The data for the past six years has been depicted in the graph given below. The NEET 2024 exam saw the highest number of registrations and the number of test takers, which was above 23 lakh. However, the number dropped in NEET 2025 application.

The NTA accepted the NEET application 2026 from eligible candidates. The entire registration and application process was held online. The process involves the stages mentioned in the image below-

1. NEET Registration 2026

Take the NEET 2026 registration using the process shared below-

• Visit the NTA NEET website- www.neet.nta.nic.in.
• Click on the New Candidate Register Here tab and read the instructions.
• Enter these details:
  • Candidate’s Name
  • Mother’s name
  • Father’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Category
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Persons with Disability
  • Identification Type
  • Identification Number
  • Mobile number
  • Email Id
  • Password
  • Enter Security Pin

2. Fill NEET Application Form 2026

• To fill the NEET form, click on the login link.
• Login using the application number and password.
• Details entered during the registration process are pre-filled in the application and cannot be changed.
• Fill out the remaining application form with these details-
  
  • Personal details
  • Identity details
  • APAAR ID for NEET 2026
  • Choice of Medium of Question Paper
  • Selection of exam city
  • Parents'/Guardians' Occupation and Qualification
  • Academic Details
  • Emergency Contact Details
• Check all the details carefully as they cannot be changed after the final submission of the NTA NEET 2026 application form, except for a few fields.
• To submit the duly checked application form, click on “Yes, please do” on the confirmation pop-up.

3. Capture Live Photo & Upload documents on NEET Form

• Capture the live photo as per the notified guidelines.
• Click on upload your recent documents.
• Select the files to be uploaded.
• Click on “Next”.

4. Pay NEET Application Fees

Pay the NEET form fees through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net banking/ UPI and submit and save the confirmation page.

NEET UG 2026 Document Advisory by NTA

The NTA issued the NEET UG document advisory 2026 for candidates to get their documents updated before taking the NEET form fillup process. Candidates needed to ensure that the given documents are updated and valid.

• Aadhaar Card: It is mandatory to provide Aadhaar details during the NEET 2026 registrations to ensure transparency and efficiency. It should contain these details-
  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Photograph
  • Address
  • Biometric Information
• UDID Card for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)
• Category Certificate for EWS/ SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL

NEET 2026 Application Documents that must be retained till admissions

Candidates must keep the following documents safe till the NEET counselling or the medical admission process is concluded.

• Printout of the confirmation page
• Receipt for the payment of application fees
• Six to eight copies of the uploaded photograph

NTA opened the NEET application correction facility for the registered candidates. Only those candidates who submitted the NEET application form 2026 by paying the requisite application fee within the stipulated date were eligible to avail of the NEET application form correction facility. • Visit neet.nta.nic.in.
• Log in with the NEET 2026 registration details.
• Click on the tab Correction in Application Form.
• Read the instructions.
• Enter the OTP sent to the registered mobile number for verification.
• Make the necessary changes, provided the fields are editable and allowed for the candidates based on their Aadhaar verification status.
• Click on save.
• Download the updated application form.

There is no additional fee to make corrections in the NEET registration 2026. However, there are a few fields which can not be edited. These fields included name, email ID and mobile number. 

List of Editable and Uneditable Fields in the NEET 2026 Correction Window

This year, the NTA introduced the live photo capture on the NEET UG 2026 form. While uploading the documents, candidates first needed to capture their live photos and then attach the other required documents. Candidates need to ensure that they follow the NTA NEET guidelines for live photo capture otherwise their form may get rejected. Candidates need to use the process given below to capture live photos-

• Switch on the cameras or connect the webcam to the device used for filling the NEET application form.
• If the device does not support the webcam, then candidates need to scan the QR code on the right side of the form for the same.
• There should be light-coloured background.
• The NTA will match the captured live photo with the Aadhaar database.
