BTech in Design: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced the launch of a new four-year undergraduate programme, i.e., BTech in Design, starting from the academic year 2025โ26. This programme will be offered by the Department of Design and is aimed at students with a passion for creativity, problem-solving, and social innovation.
The course is designed to address real-world socio-technical problems through a blend of engineering and design thinking.
B.Tech in Design Admission Criteria
Admission to the B.Tech. in Design programme will be based on:
- JEE (Advanced) rankings
- UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) qualification
Aspirants must qualify both JEE Advanced and UCEED to be eligible for admission.

IIT Delhi admission is entrance-based for all the programmes (Except for PG Diploma). For the diploma course, selection is done merit-basis. Candidates who have passed Class 12 can apply for the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi undergraduate courses. More details around the admission process of some of the courses are provided below:
- Candidates, who have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with an aggregate of 75% or above, can appear for JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced and JoSAA Counselling to seek BTech admission at IIT Delhi.
- Admission to MTech course is based on merit in GATE exam followed by GOAP counselling.
- For MSc, aspirants need to apply with a valid score of IIT JAM and selected candidates have to further go through CCMN counselling.
For IIT Delhi PhD admission, candidates need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the institute. Master degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Humanities or equivalent in relevant stream with a CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% aggregate is the basic eligibility criteria for PhD admission. Eligible candidates can apply by filling out the application form by visiting the official website. The selection is based on merit in CSIR-NET/GATE followed by an interview round.

There are SIX participating institutes of UCEED 2024.
IIT Roorkee has newly joined the list of UCEED 2024 participating colleges.
These participating institutes offer a combined intake of 225 (up from 205 seats in the previous edition) seats for the B. Des programme. Admission to the B. Des programme will be based on UCEED 2024 merit. Of the five participating institutes, IIT Jabalpur has the highest intake at 66 seats. Meanwhile, IIT Bombay, which is the most sought after college has an intake of 37 seats. Note that the seat intake has been divided into various categories like Open, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and PwD.
