C3iHub-IIT Kanpur and IPA Collaborate to Advance Digital Innovation in Ports

IPA has signed an MoU with C3iHub at IIT Kanpur under the Digital Centre of Excellence to drive smart port transformation through digital innovation and cybersecurity advancements.
The Indian Ports Association (IPA) has signed an MoU with C3iHub, IIT Kanpur, under the Digital Centre of Excellence (DCoE) initiative to drive India’s transition from digitized ports to fully automated smart ports. This strategic collaboration will focus on strengthening cybersecurity through robust controls, specialised training for port authorities and operational teams, and the development of tailored cybersecurity policies for the maritime sector.
As Indian ports integrate advanced digital technologies, this initiative will enhance resilience against cyber threats, fostering a secure, efficient, and future-ready maritime ecosystem that sets a global benchmark for smart port development. Through C3iHub, the institute will offer research-driven insights, advanced technological solutions, and specialized skill development programs to enhance cybersecurity in India’s maritime sector.
Sunil Paliwal, Chairman, IPA, stated, “This MoU under the Digital Centre of Excellence reflects our commitment to transforming Indian ports into world-class smart ports. By collaborating with C3iHub-IIT Kanpur, we aim to not only advance automation but also ensure robust cybersecurity frameworks that safeguard our digital assets.
