The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur’s Department of Space, Planetary & Astronomical Sciences & Engineering, in collaboration with the Ranjit Singh Rozi Shiksha Kendra (RSK), is set to launch Astronomy & Science Clubs in government schools across the state. This initiative aims to ignite curiosity in science and space exploration among students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to pursue these dynamic fields.

Dr. Tejpreet Kaur, Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of SPASE, IIT Kanpur, highlighted the importance of astronomy in broadening students’ understanding of the universe. Prof. Sandeep Sangal, Principal Investigator of the RSK project, highlighted its dual mission—offering high-quality, free education to children while equipping rural youth with essential employable skills.

The State Bank of India (SBI) has provided CSR funding to support the establishment of Astronomy and Science Clubs in the first 10 government schools.
