IIT Kanpur To Organise ‘Quantum Quest’ to Advance India’s Quantum Research

The Mission Coordination Cell of the National Quantum Mission at IIT Kanpur is organising Quantum Quest from March 22 to 23, 2025. The event will bring together students, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers to explore advancements in quantum technologies. Registration is open to students, research scholars, and faculty members, with a fee of INR 100 for students and research scholars, and INR 500 for professionals and faculty. IIT Kanpur Quantum Quest

Quantum Quest is the first flagship awareness event dedicated to showcasing the transformative potential of quantum technologies and their applications, aligning with the objectives of the National Quantum Mission. It aims to foster awareness, facilitate knowledge exchange, enhance skill development, and promote collaboration in the rapidly evolving quantum technology landscape. The event will highlight cutting-edge advancements in quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing and metrology, as well as quantum materials and devices.

The two-day event will feature keynote addresses and invited talks by leading experts in quantum science and technology. Students and researchers will have the opportunity to showcase their work through oral and poster presentations, fostering academic dialogue and interdisciplinary learning. Outstanding presentations will be recognized with awards. Attendees will engage in insightful discussions on the real-world applications of quantum technologies, including their implications for national security and the economy. Interactive sessions will offer valuable perspectives on the roles of academia, industry, and government in driving innovation and the adoption of quantum technologies.

About National Quantum Mission

The National Quantum Mission (NQM), launched by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), aims to position India as a leader in quantum research, innovation, and application. It seeks to harness quantum science for economic growth, scientific discovery, and technological breakthroughs.

Following a flexible implementation model, NQM fosters collaboration between academia, R&D labs, and industry partners. This comprises the quantum technology applications across four Thematic Hubs (T-Hubs) namely:

  • Quantum Computing,
  • Quantum Communication,
  • Quantum Sensing & Metrology
  • Quantum Materials & Devices.
