CTET 2019 paper-I was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on December 8 from 9:30 AM-12 Noon. The paper-I of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) was conducted in offline mode to shortlist eligible candidates for recruitment as teachers in classes I-V.

The CTET paper-I contained 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 150 marks. The paper was divided into four sections (mentioned in the table below) and candidates had to complete the exam in a duration of 150 minutes. There was no negative marking in the exam.

CTET Paper-I Section-Wise Difficulty Level
Shiksha reported live from a CTET exam centre in Noida where total 600 students appeared for paper-I. A majority of the candidates that Shiksha spoke to shared that paper-I was easy but lengthy. Alisha: CTET 2019 exam was good. The section of Maths was also good. However, in Hindi section, some questions came outside of the syllabus. Also, the numbering of one question in Hindi comprehension was wrong, which wasted a lot of time. Secondly, I believe that CBSE should increase the time of the paper a bit so that candidates can finish it with greater efficiency. I could not complete my paper on time. I left four questions in the exam.
Meenakshi: The Child Development & Pedagogy section of CTET paper-I was of moderate difficulty level. I found some questions in the section tough. Questions from Maths section were easy as compared to previous year’s CTET question paper. I found Hindi and English Pedagogy sections also of easy to moderate difficulty level; however, it took a lot of time to answer reading comprehension questions. The section of Environmental Science (EVS) was easy. Overall, the CTET paper-I was good and easy. I could not complete the paper on time.
Anita: This year’s CTET paper-I was extremely good. Although this was my first attempt at the exam, I had watched many online videos during the preparation and found the paper easy. The section of Maths was easier as compared to previous years’ papers. I found some difficulties in answering the questions from English (language-II) section of the exam. Overall, the paper was easy.
Anshika: CTET paper-I was good but time consuming. We had very less time to answer the questions. All the sections in the exam were easy, however, I found some difficulty in answering questions from Maths and English sections.
Anika: My CTET exam went good. However, I found the paper little lengthy. The EVS section of the exam was good. The English section was lengthy and I could not complete it. Overall, the paper-I was easy.
Iti: I gave the CTET exam for the first time and it went good. Some questions in English and Hindi sections were tough. Apart from that, Maths and EVS sections were good and easy.
Neha: I found all sections of CTET 2019 paper-I easy. However, I got confused in some questions from Maths section. I could manage the time well in the exam. Overall, the paper was not tough.
Ishan: For the last ten years, CTET exam is being conducted at a high level. Talking about the section-wise difficulty level, I found Hindi section of the level little hard. The unseen passages in Hindi section were difficult. I also found the paper lengthy due to unseen passages. The exam pattern was the same as mentioned by CBSE in the information brochure.
Shiela: The paper was good but I found Maths questions hard. Rest all other sections of the exam were easy.

According to the NCTE notification, candidates require 60% or more to pass the CTET examination. The minimum marks required by a candidate being a General category to qualify the CTET exam is 90 out of 150 and for SC, ST, OBC and PwD is 82 out of 150.
