CEED was conducted from 9 am to 12 noon today, January 17, 2021. Candidates who took CEED 2021 exam shared that the exam was easy to moderate with respect to the difficulty level.
CEED 2021 exam was conducted across 24 test cities on January 17. The exam ended at 12 noon, however, aspirants were allowed to leave the CEED 2021 exam centre by 12:25 pm only. Students are not aware why this delay happened but it was most likely because answer booklets for Part B of the exam were being collected.
Although students shared that all the facilities were in place inside the CEED test centre to ensure that it was safe to conduct the exam in times of COVID-19 pandemic. However, outside the test centre was entirely a different story with no precautions being followed whether it was social distancing or wearing a mask.

CEED 2021 Exam Review
CEED exam is conducted to shortlist aspirants for admission in MDes course offered at colleges such as IISc Bangalore, IITs, IIITDM Jabalpur and other colleges that accept CEED 2021 scores for admission.
CEED 2021 had two sections, i.e., Part A and Part B. Mentioned below is the exam pattern and marking scheme for CEED exam, this year.

Shiksha covered the exam at CEED exam centre located at Sarita Vihar where more than 800 students took the exam. Most of the students who took the exam shared that they found CEED 2021 to be easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level.
CEED 2021 Exam Analysis & Difficulty Level
Shaurya a student of College of Arts shared that he had been preparing for CEED exam since the past 4-5 months and if he clears the exam he would like to join Communication Design at any of the IITs. Talking about the difficulty level of the exam he said, “My exam went pretty well. It was moderate in difficulty level. You just had to maintain your time. I completed my paper just on time”. He further elaborated about the experience of taking a centre based test by stating that the servers were working fine and all required precautions were taken by exam authorities.
Vikas Sharma shared he found CEED 2021 to be lengthy and he was not able to complete the paper on time. He shared that, “I could not attempt all CEED Part A questions within the time allotted”. About the drawing paper, he said that he found it to be easier than Part A exam.
Reehaan shared that CEED 2021 question paper was easier than last year. He said that he attempted all the MCQ questions in the paper and expects to score good marks in the exam. He shared that part A had some tricky questions and, part B had questions from different design specialisation like Graphic Design, and Industrial Design.
Shivangi said, “My exam was actually pretty good. I did not prepare a lot for it but still it was very easy.” She also shared that time management in CEED 2021 was an issue and she could have navigated through the exam in a better way but she feels that two hours for Part B exam are adequate.
Another candidate Nipun Sharma from Gurugram, currently pursuing Bachelors in Fine Arts (BFA) shared that the paper this year was easier as compared to last year, and that majority of students would be able to score well in CEED examination.
As per Vasudha and Jiyaan, the difficulty level of CEED exam was average. Talking about section-wise difficulty level of CEED exam, they said, “Section A was tough as compared to last year’s paper whereas Section B was not difficult”. Part B of the exam had similar questions as asked in previous years’ question papers which include character making and lines. They also shared that, “Part A pattern was difficult as compared to last year’s paper as it did not have visual questions and mostly contained numerical questions. Pattern of Part B exam was the same. If they clear the paper then they would like to join Interaction Design at IIT Bombay.
Chetan said that, “My exam was average. It was the first time I was giving my exam and I faced a bit of problem in time management. Another sphere where I faced an issue was that I cannot sketch”. He further elaborated on the difficulty level of CEED exam by saying, “Compared to previous years’ papers, I felt that Part A was more difficult as it had a lot of numericals and mechanical questions. It also had 3-4 animation related questions”.

CEED 2021 Exam in Time of Pandemic
Shrilja Shikhawat who hails from Meerut shared that she was very scared of taking the CEED exam at an exam centre but, “The test centre had all the security arrangements in place. Security guards were checking the temperature of every student and sanitisers were there at the centre. Everything was secure, I am not scared any longer of giving offline exams”.
Shaurya also felt that all the required precautionary measures were adopted by the CEED test centre authorities and ensured that it was a safe place to take the exam.
Confirming the same, Bhupen Chaurasiya said, “IIT Bombay had ensured that social distancing was maintained and although everything was sanitised, I cleaned everything again to be on the safer side”.
Chetan also felt that the exam centre was properly sanitised and with everyone having masks, it was not too scary to take the test. He also shared that the CEED question paper also contained many COVID related questions.

The cutoff for CEED Admission is expected to be out after the release of the CEED result 2026 and scorecard. CEED result and Scorecard will be used for CEED Admission in various IITs.

UCEED 2026 application form is to be filled by candidates seeking admission to the B. Des programme. Also, UCEED 2026 scores are not considered for admission to the M.Des programme. So, the candidates must instead fill out the application form for CEED 2026. Note that both the CEED and UCEED exams

The qualifying cut-off is the minimum marks a candidate needs to score in the paper to get shortlisted. Part B answer booklets will only be evaluated if the candidate gets shortlisted.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.

The candidate must note that IIT Bombay is only responsible for conducting the CEED Entrance exam. Unlike UCEED, it will not conduct any Joint Seat Allotment.

No, IIT Bombay will not send the hard copies of CEED 2026 Scorecard. The scorecard of CEED will be issued only in online mode. The candidate has to download it from the CEED admission portal - ceed.iitb.ac.in. To download the scorecard, log in by entering your email id and password.

Score card of CEED 2026 will be issued to all candidates who will appear in CEED 2926 exam. So, even if you have failed to qualify Part A, you can download the scorecard.
